Fridays were Junsu’s favorite day of the week. Aside from it being his day off from the café, he can also visit his favorite music shop downtown. He loved music. He wasn’t into composing or instruments or anything, but he loved and preferred listening to it. The feel of the melody going through your system was soothing, especially the piano. It’s his favorite.

The music shop is still in the same shape every time Junsu visits it. Old dusty smell that wasn’t unpleasant; CDs, cassette tapes, and old vinyl records lined up on the shelves; the music player and headphone in the corner; the cashier at the back of the shop; the piano resting on a platform in one corner; and a man looking at the piano score sheets.

Huh?

Junsu looked again to make sure he wasn’t imagining things. He rubbed both his eyes, blinked and looked again. The man was still there. Well that was weird. He was always the first one here. Let’s face it. The modern world today finds it hard to appreciate classical music so this shop isn’t really visited that much. The man’s back was turned to him. He was wearing loose pants, a wool sweater and a bonnet. Junsu didn’t know why but there was something oddly familiar about the man.

He continued to watch the mystery man, his curiosity brewing as he picked up a piano music sheet and proceeded to the counter. The man was buying a sheet! Junsu was overjoyed that he saw someone appreciate the same instrument as him. His excitement died down just a tiny bit though, when he heard the man’s voice.

“How much is this?” the man said. His voice was deep, sending familiar tingles down Junsu’s spine. He would recognize that voice anywhere. After all, it was what haunted his imagination ever since their pipe was fixed (which was yesterday). The man paid for the sheet and turned around, confirming Junsu’s thoughts. There was Yoochun, standing before him with a slight look of surprise on his face.

Junsu thought he couldn’t be any cuter.

“Mr. Ki-Err… I mean Junsu? Is that you?” deep-voice said.

Junsu squeaked a bit out of surprise and answered, “Y-yeah. Good morning Yoochun.”

“Okay, that was lame Junsu…” Junsu chastised himself.

“Good morning to you too.” Yoochun smiled. “Are you going to buy anything here?”

“No not really. I just come here often. I like the ambiance of the place.”

“Yeah me too. I’m glad I found the place really. I wanted some new music sheets to play.”

“You play the piano?” Junsu couldn’t hide the awe in his voice.

“Yup. Do you?”

“Errm… I can play… a bit… I prefer listening to it so I don’t really practice.” Junsu chuckled at himself and blushed slightly.

“You wanna hear me play? I asked the old guy and said I can use the piano here if I want.”

“Sure!” Junsu blurted and immediately bowed his head down in embarrassment. “I mean… uhh… if you don’t mind that is.”

Yoochun laughed. “I asked you so there’s no need to be embarrassed.” Yoochun grabbed Junsu’s wrist and pulled him to the baby grand piano sitting on one corner of the shop. “Come on.”

Junsu was surprised when Yoochun grabbed his wrist and pulled him to sit beside him on the piano.

“Anything you want in particular?”

“No… Just play whatever you’re comfortable to.”

Yoochun smiled again and skimmed through the keys, getting the feeling of the piano. He breathed in deep, closed his eyes and started playing.

The moment Yoochun started playing, Junsu was entranced. Hearing a piano live was still different from listening to records. He didn’t know what the song was but he didn’t care. He loved it. The melody flowed out fluidly. It was a soft and soothing piece, the type that Junsu falls in love with. He couldn’t help but close his eyes and smile. This is what music is supposed to be like.

When the song ended, Yoochun opened his eyes to see Junsu’s closed ones. He smiled at the latter’s expression. It looked like he was floating in the clouds.

“How’d I do?” Yoochun asked, breaking Junsu from his trance.

“THAT WAS FANTASTIC!” Junsu said excitedly. “You should perform in a recital or something! That was one of the best pieces I’ve heard! Who made it?”

“I did.” Yoochun said somewhat proudly.

Junsu’s gaped at that. Not only did this person play like a pro, he also composed! Junsu was in awe and honored that Yoochun would play something he made for him even though they just met. He wanted to do something for him. And he thought of the perfect thing.

“Are you busy today?” Yoochun quirked an eyebrow at the question but answered anyway.

“No. Unless someone calls me up for an emergency pipe situation then I don’t have work today.” Yoochun smirked making Junsu blush again.

“Well… uhm… Wouldyouliketohavecoffeewithme?” Junsu blurted out. He didn’t know why he was so friggin’ nervous. It was just coffee for crying out loud! It’s just like asking Jaejoong to accompany him to the café!
Except that Jaejoong doesn’t make your heart skip a beat and make butterflies take a picnic in your stomach. Why the hell was he feeling like a high school girl who has a crush?!?

“Pardon? Don’t speak so fast. Horses aren’t chasing you.” Yoochun grinned making Junsu’s face red like a tomato. Now he understood why Jaejoong loved teasing Junsu. It IS fun. For one thing his reactions are too cute.

There he goes with the cute word again…

“W-would you l-like to have c-coffee with me?” Junsu mumbled.

“Huh?”

“As a thank you for playing your song. I work in a coffee shop nearby and the coffee is good.” He quickly added.

“Sure thing. I don’t mind.” Besides, I want to hear your cute-voice more, Yoochun thought.

--

The afternoon was spent in joy and laughter. They spent most of it inside the café Junsu worked at.

“Who is this Junsu? Your boyfriend?” Yunho, his co-barista, smirked at his now red-faced friend.

“NO!” Junsu squeaked. “Just a friend…” he added.

The other employees laughed at Junsu. They loved the guy. Always smiling and cheerful, Junsu was their sunshine. Yoochun was starting to think the same for himself.

“Whoa... Hold your horses Yoochun. You just met him yesterday!” But he really couldn’t help but like the way Junsu laughed and smiled. He was adorable when he blushed. He couldn’t imagine him being intimidating, even if the guy was upset. Heck he even found him cuter than he already is when he was shouting.

They got to tell each other their life stories over coffee. Yoochun ordered his favorite Tall Vanilla Latte and Junsu ordered an Iced White Mocha Latte. Childhood memories were shared and little facts that made life enjoyable.

Holding his now empty cup, Junsu couldn’t help but ask.

“Yoochun, why did you become a plumber?”

The man in question turned his head from gazing at the people walking by the window to look at the semi-blushing Junsu. Junsu, noticing the pointed look on the other’s face, bowed his head down and immediately regretted asking.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t ha-“

“Don’t worry about it.”Yoochun said; drinking what was left from his coffee.

“-ve ask- What?” Junsu looked up from his previous embarrassed state to look at Yoochun. His face was resting on his left hand. He had a small smile on his face and was looking at him.

“My dad is a plumber. But he’s already old so he gave the business to me.” Yoochun raised his hand to call the attention of the waitress and ask for some water. “I didn’t really mind since I haven’t really thought of anything to do with my life. I’ve always known that the plumbing service would be handed down to me so my mind didn’t think that far ahead.”

“But you can compose and play the piano like a professional!” Junsu was gaping at him like he made the gravest mistake of his life.

Yoochun laughed. “I prefer playing for myself and people I’m close to. I don’t really like to make a living out of it. The pressure eats all the fun away.” The waitress served their water and Yoochun took a sip. “Besides, I actually like plumbing. I’ve been helping my dad out ever since I could think so it grew on me.”

“He played for me… does that mean I’m close to him? Oh get over yourself Junsu! You just met him yesterday!”

“You know you should really stop spacing out.” “Or else I might pounce on you. You look too adorable for your own good.”  But Yoochun didn’t feel the need to say the last part out loud.

Junsu snapped out from his daze and scratched his head in embarrassment. “Sorry…” he mumbled. Yoochun laughed openly and he followed suit, bringing a nice melody into the café. Junsu decided that the pianist’s laugh was more beautiful compared to any music he has heard.

--

Back at the apartment, Yoochun thanked Junsu for the coffee. The latter didn’t know why he was thanking him. He added today in his “Wonderful days to remember” list. Yoochun turned to leave when they heard two sets of laughter from inside of Junsu’s apartment. Yoochun was about to ask if he had visitors but judging from the look of confusion on the other’s face, he concluded that he didn’t know either. Funny though, one of the laughs sounded familiar.

Junsu inserted his keys to the lock and opened their door. They were welcomed with Jaejoong sitting with another man in the couch. Their backs was turned so Junsu didn’t recognize the man yet. They were laughing and it would seem that the man was starting to choke on the food in his mouth. Jaejoong in turn patted him hard on the back and gave him water. The other man finally gulped down whatever it was that was stuck in his throat and turned to face Jae and mumble his thanks. There was something at the way the man looked at Jaejoong. He knew the guy but was too focused on what his eyes were saying to care. There was a certain sparkle. It was light but it was there. It was present in Jae’s eyes too. But he wasn’t sure if they both realized it yet. Who would’ve known that food would produce this much attraction in more or less than 24 hours?

“Changmin? What are you doing here?” Yoochun asked from the doorway, breaking the eye contact of the men (well, ghei is more like it, at least in Jaejoong’s case) on the couch. Junsu tried to not look disappointedly at Yoochun since not everyone was as perceptive as he is, especially when it comes to his bestfriend.

Changmin looked a bit startled. Probably didn’t notice the door opening since he was concentrated on not dying. “Hyung! Well... uhm you see… My class ended early… and I was hungry… and I tried calling the house and no one was answering… so I kinda sorta went to Jaejoong-hyung… Since he promised me food…” Changmin had the decency to look a bit embarrassed but he was happy he came here.

Yoochun groaned and face palmed. “Sorry Jaejoong…”

“It’s fine really. I was the one who offered remember?” Yoochun was about to reason out again so Jae stopped him.

“Yoochun, seriously it’s fine. I like feeding people, especially someone as cute as your brother.” He pinched Min’s face for emphasis.

“Ooooowww~~ Hyung! That hurt!” Changmin was rubbing his slightly reddened cheek while pouting. They all laughed at the youngest’s antics.

“Awww… did I pinch you too hard?” Jae was now caressing the said cheek with the back of his hand and being all umma-ish. Junsu smiled. Seems like Jae is serious with this one. Yoochun, however, couldn’t grasp what was happening. He was about to go to Min and pull him to their apartment to save himself from further humiliation but a hand holding his wrist stopped him. He looked at the hand and then the owner. He looked at the Junsu quizzically but latter just shook his head in response.

“We’re just gonna buy some snacks. I think you guys emptied the refrigerator.” Before anyone could say anything, Junsu pulled Yoochun out of the apartment.

--

Junsu was still pulling Yoochun by the wrist. Chunnie was curious, but his hand was starting to hurt.

“Junsu… my hand is starting to hurt. I can follow you on my own you know.”

Junsu realized that he was still holding Chunnie’s wrist so he let go with a squeak and apologized profusely. Yoochun just laughed and stepped closer to Junsu. They were in the middle of the sidewalk but there weren’t much people. Those who were there just saw two men close to each other. Nothing uncommon.

Right…

Su’s breathing became shallow due to the close proximity. He tried to speak but nothing would come out of his mouth. It was like his heart leaped up from his chest and blocked his throat. Yoochun was aware of the affect he was having to cute-voice and he liked it. This is the first time he’s ever done this to a guy. Yes, you heard that right. Yoochun has never hooked up with a guy before. But he’s prided himself in being open-minded.

“I shall forgive you,” Yoochun smirked when he noticed the smaller man’s Adam’s apple bob up and down. “If and only if you tell me why you dragged me out of your apartment.”

“Uhhh… Well… Jae has a t-thing f-for Changmin…” Yoochun raised his eyebrow at this but let cute-voice continue. “A-and the-they were having a good time. I ju-just thought thi-this will be a good opportunity for Jae…” Junsu stuttered.

Well this is news to Yoochun. Now he understood why Jaejoong so openly invited Changmin over. He was flirting!

“Cou-could you step ba-back now please?” Junsu was trying very hard to not let his panting be noticed. But it was phailing. His heaving chest was enough of an evidence. Not wanting to lead the poor guy to hyperventilation, he stepped back.

“You should’ve just told me. I’m clueless about these things.” He said softly. Junsu just mumbled an apology. He was still trying to catch his breath. It was Yoochun’s turn to tug at the panting man’s hand and pull him to the convenient store. Junsu did his infamous embarrassed state (blushing, head bowed down) and curled his fingers around Yoochun’s hand. The day just soared to the top of his wonderful days list.
