When I was in high school, the only people allowed to wear Letterman jackets were members of the Varsity football team. That rule was established decades ago, when the school was founded. I got my Varsity Letter in band. *I* didn't want a jacket but we had some band members who had a jacket and a letter that was exactly like the football players. And the track members. And the cheering squad. And the basketball players, etc.

No, no, no. Absolutely not. Didn't you see my tag? "Not at all about the SCA." And I also clearly said at the end of the post that no high school politics exist in the SCA. This has nothing at all to do with the SCA, and any resemblance to anything remotely resembling the SCA is purely coincidental, and all in your head.

I took my academic letter home and gave it to my mom, and that was the closest I ever came to getting a letterman's jacket.

I think I earned a letter in golf, or cross-country or track, but I didn't want to be identified with the dim bulbs that were playing football and absorbed 95% of the sorts budget.
