Felix Update

jpgr joined us at the barn today, and happily documented the thriving pony that is our Felix. You may remember he came to us in May rather than become dinner for the lions at the Bronx Zoo. He was underweight, shaggy, underloved, and lonely. He's had lots of love, grooming, hay, grass and feed since then, and now he looks lovely. He's giving ( Read more... )

Oh, Co, just from the pictures he looks worlds better! Yay for you and a worthy project...it's got to feel good at the end of the day helping someone/thing who's been left for dead essentially. It's a healing and wonderful thing...go you!

Doesn't he look good? It has really been great bringing him along. Thanks for making it feel even better. Hopefully the new horse fares as well.

So cool that he has a good life now! I've heard there are a lot of horses available now because of the recession. :( My boss used to have one and the upkeep sounds REALLY expensive. I think she's reluctant to get another one because euthanizing the last one was so traumatizing to her. :( It developed some kind of disease where it was in pain to be standing up.

If you look on craigslist, you see lots of horses needing new homes because their owners can't keep them anymore. I love them but yes, the upkeep is expensive. Feed, bedding, vets, farriers, shots... So I just play with other people's horses.
One day your boss sees one who needs her and won't be able to resist...
