In advance of Thor coming out on DVD...

The deleted scenes have begun to make their way onto YouTube. I've seen a couple posted on Tumblr (which is where I do the bulk of my fangirling at the moment so, as bad as it is over here, IT COULD BE WORSE) and what strikes me is the storytelling reason for removing most of them:

And because all this is spoilery, and I also discuss my thoughts on other character elements including whether Loki can ever be redeemed, here's your cut. )

I love your character analyses - and your Loki! Still haven't seen the film, mstly because of budget constraints, but my Granny's dog when I was little was a black lab called Loki and as a result, Loki was always my secret favourite of the Norse pantheon! :) Have you read Diana Wynne Jones' "Seven Days of Luke"? I think you'd like it! :))

And, "seems to have reached the end of his ability to cope with rejection" sounds like a succinct summary of my dating history. Though it's taken me years to work out that that's what was going on...

I need to check out Seven Days of Luke--thank you!

I hope you like the movie when you see it--and yeah, that whole coping-with-rejection thing, and the trying-to-fit-in thing, was a struggle for me for years. I really think that's one of the things that makes Loki hit so hard for me and maybe other people. You look at him and go, "I'm not a god of Asgard, but I know how that feels."
