I don't know whether I've referred to this before, but I've liked CSI: Classic for a long time. It's my favourite of the franchise, by a mile. But over the past few years the gallows playfulness seemed to be replaced by an unremitting darkness around all the characters. The deleted scenes have begun to make their way onto YouTube. I've seen a couple posted on Tumblr (which is where I do the bulk of my fangirling at the moment so, as bad as it is over here, IT COULD BE WORSE) and what strikes me is the storytelling reason for removing most of them:
