Music, a meme and rants

Oct 15, 2008 19:46

Working on a fandom newsletter is awesome in quite a few ways, but one way it is not is the exposure to copious amounts of badfic. It's so depressing to know that people write such crap, and even worse, get others commenting on how 'great' is it. It kind of makes me want to cry. ( These kinds of fic feature lovelies such as: )

rantings, music, it's all about meme

That's an EXCELLENT comic. And rant. Have you ever read girl genius? I have an unholy love for it: http://girlgeniusonline.com/ ignore the fact that Agatha spends a lot of time in her underwear, I frequently write in mine at home.

On that topic, my darkfest fic is 1st person POV and full of misery. Ummmm ... I'll write something comedic immediately afterwards.

Ooh- I haven't actually, and it looks good. New stuff to explore is fun! :)

I have read 1st POV that I've liked, but I just connect with it as much. It feels to alien to be reading 'I did this' and so on. Yeah, I'm just not one for the angst. \O/ Comedic! :D

the smooshed up names just make me cringe.

i am immediately intimidated by the talk of coding and cutid# etc and hope i do not do these things. (not that i write bandom fic so you probably wouldn't know.)

however it is true that i fail at capitlisation. sorry 'bout that.

And sometimes so hard to figure out!

Meh, I don't think so.

I can deal. ;) And it's only annoying in fic.

And that icon is adorable! Michael's face! :D

I know nothing about coding, so I can't really empathize with you on that - althought I'm positive you make a good point - but oh god, the mini grammar lesson? Do not even get me started. I understand the occasional slip-up, really I do, but when it's constant? And when there are no paragraph breaks! And I hate the cutesy names more than anything, especially Joncer, because it just sounds weird to me.

I like your desktop background - it's sort of awesome. I would show you mine if I had any idea how to do it. (Seriously, so unintelligent when it comes to technology.)

I'm really glad you like xkcd! I've been in love with that comic for years, and it's always nice to find people who share my sense of humour.

They all sound weird! ;)

Thank you! I love it. If you have a PC it's so easy! (I would have no clue for a mac though.) Hold down Ctrl and then press the button at the top right of the keyboard that says 'PrtScn SysRq' it will take a screenshot of the whole desktop and copy it to your clipboard. Then just go to something like Paint (I use Photoshop) and just Ctrl and V to paste, then save! So easy.

I love so much that it's stick figures! I spent an entire night (literally, I stayed up 'til 4am or something) reading about 150 or something of them. I'm trying to make them into icons, but I've never made an animated icon before, and some aren't really iconable, but I'm still trying.

I've got a PC, but I still can't make it work. Epic fail.

They all just crack me up, especially since he's obviously the biggest geek ever. If you ever get the icons going, I'd love to still a couple (read: a thousand)!

Really? :( On well, another time maybe.

Geeks FTW! ;)

I've actually made one! It's pretty crappy, but I'm gonna keep trying. Is there any specific one you'd want?
