It really is something like a dance, as they come together and move apart, circling, weaving, their bodies pressing together in a furious clinch before spinning away to circle again. Ratigan may have size and strength on his side, but Basil still has speed, and as the fight wears on and the cheering around him fades to white noise, he finds that he is able to focus his flighty, frantic mind entirely on his opponent. The world blurs away and only Ratigan remains. The questions and observations that hound his every waking moment are suddenly drowned out by the sound of flesh striking flesh, and when he tastes blood in his mouth, he smiles.
Love, love, love this bit so much. It's got a bit of a frenzied feel mixed in with a bit of calculated madness that just makes me squee a little.
Basil charges and Ratigan meets him in the middle, and when their bodies collide, for a moment it really is something like a dance.I love how you brought the story ( ... )

And I hope you know how much I appreciate all of your wonderful comments. I really am trying to be a writer IRL, and it means a lot to have this little cheering squad telling me that I've got what it takes. Really. Thanks so much for your encouragement! <333
disney_kink is one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I can't remember the last time I had so much fun in fandom. XD

I think disney_kink is my favourite fandom, too! It's just so much fun there! It's brought my muse back from the dead, too, which is just amazing. I'm so glad you like it there, too! :D

There is something about the beginning that reminds me very much of Dickens. And not in a bad way. Also the childhood memories of Basil' mum give me images of Dicken-esque women, (does she resemble Miss Havisham a bit, or is my imagination taking it too far? I would have peed my pants if Miss Havisham was clawing at my eyes, even as a grown-up.) Although Conan Doyle also had a good (if a little outdated) grip on madness (ever read the The Beetle-HunterI LOVE your introduction of Ratigan here too. I want to take him home right away. (Yeah. *grumbles and shakes head at my bad boy attraction*) I can well understand why this meeting burns ( ... )

Being reminded of Dickens is a good thing! I really want to stay true to that late-Victorian feeling, from the atmosphere to the etiquette. I hadn't consciously summoned Miss Havisham, but you're right on the money--- Mama Hume is a dead ringer! I have not read The Beetle-Hunter and I very much appreciate the link. Looking forward to reading it ( ... )

If you had told me a month ago that GMD would be my new favorite fandom, I'd have never believed you. And yet here we are! I'm so happy you're enjoying the ride as much as I am. :D
Yes, DO come on over to disney_kink! There's great writing and wild prompts and it's just an awesome place. Remember, you can always leave a Basil/Ratigan prompt for me, if you think of something in particular you'd like to see--- this series lives on prompts! ^_^

And oh, I just LOVED IT! Violence kink, as usual, adores you, and Basil getting all proud of himself for figuring Ratigan out, and then Ratigan all "Haha!" and then Basil all "HAHA!" years later, and the romance/not but romance-ish stuff, and Basil getting the better of Ratigan, and the random breathplay at the end (UNF!) and CAN YOU TELL THIS SERIES FRIES MY BRAIN?
Trying to think of more prompts that'll inspire further awesomeness. xD I'll probably be posting at least one to the meme in the next few days.

I'm telling you, my violence kink loves this pairing! Every time they interact, things just get out of hand on their own! And I love the idea of Basil literally waiting years to bust out that "HAHA!" He has a demented sense of patience and timing. Also, there will definitely be some more intense, intentional breathplay later in the series--- I just love it too much. *evil grin*
I would apologize for frying your brain but I REGRET NOTHING. XDDD
YES MOAR PROMPTS. I'll be keeping an eye out for those! :D

…how is it that you manage to make them so distincly Basil and Ratigan, and yet, still younger versions of themselves, versions that haven't quite settled into their skins, that aren't fully aware of themselves and what they are capable of, what they want. Lovely.
The fight, the description, the sense of so well matched, and then Ratigan is (mostly) playing with him…it's a lovely betrayal.
Your impromtu coat rack - I don't know if you are a Discworld fan, but my mind was shrieking for young Nobby right there.
And the meeting again, Ratigan not knowing! The song! (Please tell me you were thinking of Rocky Road to Dublin. That would make my day.)

I really appreciate the comment about them being believable younger versions of themselves--- it seems like a simple thing, but it's very important in a series like this, and I'm so happy that you think I did it well.
Not a Discworld fan, no, but I'm always happy to make people's minds shriek. XD
Of course it was Rocky Road to Dublin. What kind of Holmes fan would I be if I didn't use that song in a bare-knuckle boxing sequence? XDDD
