Although things normally break just after warranties expire, I've gotten to take full advantage of several within the last couple of weeks.  In order of increasing expense:

• Purse - Fraying velcro, new one on the way
• Suitcase/Backpack - A major seam at the bottom of a newly purchased bag tore out in Switzerland and was held by duct tape for the rest ( Read more... )

Yesterdays' rain, sleet, and graupel (what kind of precipitation name is graupel?) have now turned into snow!  Thankfully my office building is closed and I'm working from home.  Due to the cold and icy conditions I had no plans to drive even if it was open.  Looks like I'll be here until at least tomorrow afternoon, if not Thursday.

This is some serious abuse of a bike engine.  I feel bad for the bike, but it's pretty interesting.

Last Friday, on my way to Houston, I was involved in an auto accident.  I was in the center lane of 290 waiting to make a left into my normal gas station in Giddings.  I had just started my turn when I saw a car start to pull out of the lot, have a brief moment I don't remember, then felt my car move sideways.  She hit me in the driver's side doors ( Read more... )

While searching for books by Alton Brown on Amazon I stumbled on this.  It's the nifty container he uses on Good Eats to hold his delicious kosher salt.  Cameron, I know at some point you mentioned you were looking for one of these but hadn't seen one.  The secret may be that it's sold as a Cheese Server rather than a salt cellar.
