So I finally got around to buying The Eagle on DVD a couple of weeks ago; then the Soul Sib and I watched it and without prompting he started giggling over how gay it was. I am so proud of him. All those years of forcing Alexander/Hephaistion on him have finally paid off. *Proud tears*

In terms of links, misspamela sums up how gay the film is very well. I ( Read more... )

Horrible Histories is my not so guilty pleasure, I just got the 2nd series on dvd. The Alexander/Hephaistion sketch is brilliant, especially when he sniffs him at the end xD

HH is my go-to happy place. I'd basically heard murmurings of it around the internet, saw it was on BBC1 and figured I'd give it a go. Thirty minutes later, wiping tears of laughter from my eyes, I went straight online and ordered all 3 series'. The Alexander/'Hephaistion' sketch just made my day so very, very much because I've always believes Alexander was a class one primadonna and this just proved it. XD

'It's Turkish!'

'...Is it Turkish for Alexandria?'

'YES.'

YES.I loved the books as a kid and I didn't realise there was a series until recently. It's very Python-esque in it's humour. The Roman food sketches are always reminding me of 'bag of otters noses,Oceleot's earlobe! wolf nipple chips get em while there hot!' in Life Of Brian xD

The Roman Emperors song is one of my favourite things ever, and now I know the names of every king and queen of England thanks to a song. If this show had been around when I was in school...

Season 4 is being made atm I'm far too excited :D

Oh my gosh, yes. I used to love the books as a kid - I think 'Rotten Romans' was one of my first ever history books. Aww, I love 'Life of Brian', I'd never looked at them like that. I just absolutely love the Caligula sketches because, thinking about it, the speech impediment he suffers with is suspiciously similar to that of the Roman governor in 'Brian'. ("Welease Woderick" and so on). XD

Yes, that song made me far too happy in a Classics fangirl sort of way, although I confess the Spartan High School musical mock-up won my love forever by basically being so cheesy and camp and ridiculously fun, and so ironic in its depiction of Spartans.

Season 4 is being made now? *Flails* YAY! This is good news indeed! Any ideas when it'll be out?

I am ashamed to say I have only just discovered Monty Python... does that count as a smiley thing? :)

It does indeed! I have an ingrained love for Monty Python, because my father saw the original series when it was on TV and ensured his children were properly educated in Python appreciation. XD I think my two faviourite Python things will always be 'The Holy Grail' and 'Life of Brian', though, because I love myth/history that's been subverted. XD

And I adore 'Spamalot', if that counts.

Where the Hell is Matt 2008

I'm of the opinion that if that video doesn't make you smile that you suffer from an affliction called No Soul Syndrome.

Hark, a vagrant is likewise awesome

I'm particularly fond of
This one which is probably only funny if you're Canadian, so I'm testing that theory out, and this one. Watch me spread my viking love. It is only second to my pre-Roman Celtic and Gaelic history love.

And lastly. Tom Hiddleston makes me happy. He just does (he actually outranks my non-human loves like history, but comes in behind people I know).
