[They never stop moving for too long, even now. They're still creating new identities, new safe houses. Five years later and they haven't returned to the United States for longer than a day at a time. It's much too tricky, even for them. Right now they're working on themselves, offering help where they can. Anyone that needs them will know a way to contact them.

Right now, they've been (officially) dating for a year and a half. It's a bit different, though, when you're with that person almost every waking moment.

And, somehow, they still haven't strangled one another.

This house is a little nicer than the one in Spain; there's a pool. Zatanna's sitting on the edge of it with her legs dipped into the cool water, the rest of her body laying back on the ground. Her eyes are closed, but she's not sleeping.]

[fishnets]

[She slides her legs up to the edge of the pool and changes position, so she's sitting beside him. Her feet slide into the water just as her cheek presses against his shoulder.] Better than being too predictable.

[doubleoohbaby]

True. We can't have that. [Tilting his head against hers as he swings a leg towards her, splashing water.]

[fishnets]

Is this your way of proving to me that you aren't predictable and can hold my interest? [She tries to be subtle about splashing him back, but there's no way it wasn't intended as revenge.]

No. Not at all. This is my way of proving that you're the only one for me, my dear. [See, look. He's even providing cuddles. Ugh he's so clingy.]

[fishnets]

Is this your way of saying I should propose? [Shut up, Zee. But really, she can't at all help but tease him. She tilts her head, nuzzling against his throat.] Because I'm not sure if I'm ready for that sort of commitment.

[doubleoohbaby]

[Eyebrow arching.] You sure about that? You seem to be mentioning it an awful lot in the last few minutes.

[fishnets]

I'm just trying to make sure you realize how lost you'd be without me, that's all.

[doubleoohbaby]

I realise that without the hint of marriage looming over us, my dear. [EVEN IF THAT'S WHAT HE WANTS.]

[fishnets]

Then I won't bring it up again. [EVEN WHEN WATCHING ROMCOMS OR HARASSING HIM...]

Good. The lady shouldn't. She should wait and hope and be surprised.

[fishnets]

I wouldn't know about protocol. This is the longest relationship I've ever been in. [It was almost at the point where they'd had to have a talk about where the relationship was going with Lassiter, but that... that was what? Five years ago? A distant memory, almost. Zatanna lifts her head and pulls her legs out of the water and close to her bddy before settling her head across his lap.]

I'm not exactly any more experienced with that, but I know how proposals should work. [But not really. But they can worry about that another time when James is prepared for epic romance. He's rather good at that sort of thing, along with cuddling.]

Seen enough romantic comedies, have you? [She's teasing, of course. She's already decided to slide the topic elsewhere.]

More than enough, thank you. [HE'S FINE WITH THAT.]

Good because I don't want to watch one tonight. [She wants to watch something DEPRESSING AND POSSIBLY WITH GHOSTS... like always.]
