[They never stop moving for too long, even now. They're still creating new identities, new safe houses. Five years later and they haven't returned to the United States for longer than a day at a time. It's much too tricky, even for them. Right now they're working on themselves, offering help where they can. Anyone that needs them will know a way to contact them.

Right now, they've been (officially) dating for a year and a half. It's a bit different, though, when you're with that person almost every waking moment.

And, somehow, they still haven't strangled one another.

This house is a little nicer than the one in Spain; there's a pool. Zatanna's sitting on the edge of it with her legs dipped into the cool water, the rest of her body laying back on the ground. Her eyes are closed, but she's not sleeping.]

[Guess who's making the most of walking around half naked? Seriously, it's not a hard guess, because James is happily strutting his stuff in a pair of tight swim trunks- he still keeps at a high fitness level thank you very much- as he returns to the pool after mixing drinks. He's even been nice enough to mix Zee one, a loooovely looking mojito, as he carefully places it beside her without disturbing and retreats to perching on a wooden sunbed nearby.

It's moments like these that make all the crazy ass imPort issues and constant running and hiding seem like a walk in the park.]

[It hasn't been too different than it was before. The only difference is they actually seemed to argue less. Plus, there was this whole weird faux-married thing going on. It wasn't so bad, though. Neither complained about the act and, admittedly, there was a certain... fun edge to it, since they became involved.

He's not noisy, but she can feel his presence. Once he's gone, she rolls over, tips of her toes dipping into the water and she looks up and over at him.] How considerate of you.

[James kind of loved the whole married with kids-- or at least dogs sort of life. He'd wanted it for a long time no matter how deep and hidden such a want was, so having it just means he's a happy little bunny.]

[Zatanna likes kids, but for her? The idea of having children is really... not something she's keen on. Marriage never came up because it wasn't possible. She likes a guy, he dies. Or worse. But here they were, in what was initially a very dire, very terrible situation... with two dogs, two cats, and a few really nice houses and aliases.]

Going to stay over there all alone?

Suppose not. [And yet it's with a sigh of effort that he slips from his perch, sliding down beside her, sat on the edge of the pool with his legs dipping beneath the water.] There you go.

Much. [She remains as she is, on her stomach. Reaching for the drink, she holds it lightly and takes a tiny sip.] And here I was worried you were going to leave me all alone.

[doubleoohbaby]

[A scoff as he takes a lasting swig of his own drink, reaching a hand to softly trail down the curve of her back.] As if I'd leave you alone, darling.

[Her elbows press to the ground and she hoists herself up just in time to hide a small shiver. Teasingly,] That's an odd way to propose to a woman.

[doubleoohbaby]

[Withdrawing his hand by just a few inches. She always knows how to make groping become awkward.] Propose?

[fishnets]

[She seems to be trying extra hard to come off as playful. How suspicious! Without looking at him, Zee continues.] Did I stutter?

[How very suspicious indeeeed.] I almost did.

Does it scare you that I brought it up at all?
