I would reapply for the job. I would acknowledge that I had applied before, then include a couple of words about why they would find that my qualifications really suited for the job if they looked seriously at them.

Reapplying seems good, with a new cover letter and such. I'm trying to put together a round robin resume review: we could include cover letters as well, if you'd be interested.

I hope that your new hampster does well. Jenny and I once took our sick hampster to the vet. Indeed, the cost of patching them up is far greater than their purchase price, but it's so terribly hard to weigh finances against those cute little balls of fur.
