Okay, the Littlest Jacob is CREEPY. Just...no! Can you IMAGINE what someone might get up to with that?

And you did NOT just compare Jesus to a vampire, did you book? I THINK YOU DID. OH NO YOU DIDN'T.

Was Andrew Lee Potts not absolutely adorable as Hatter? I've never wanted a quirky, snarky, guttersnipe of a boyfriend so much in my life.

I was going to say the same thing, but is there any possible way they're not going to fuck it up by introducing some goofy comic relief and overly chipper protagonists?

The Snow Queen is a serious, beautiful fairytale. What's the likelihood any of its pathos will make it to the screen (and through the marketing machine)?

They will have little animal friendos to help them out. Like, an Arctic fox or perhaps some kind of weasel. And birds.

Well of course, that goes with the territory. What I meant is that I don't have a lot of hope that it will be limited to the obligatory cute little friend animal. It seems rather likely that they'll want to cast some big-name actor and give the character an obnoxious and distracting cultural twist, ala Eddie Murphy's dragon Mushu from Mulan.

Plus, the whole reason the female protagonist succeeds in the story - the reason animals help her, the reason she is able to defeat the Snow Queen's army - is her faith in God. How is that going to translate? I mean, I'm an atheist, so I don't care about the religious message as a religious message, but the pathos of the story is very much invested in the notion of God and prayer.

It will be just awful if this story is twisted into a spunky grrrl power adventure. There's a place for spunky grrrl power adventures, but this story is not it.

So am I the only one at least mildly creeped out by the fact that in some shots, the villain in the Princess And The Frog is costumed as freakin' Baron Samedi? Seriously, black top hat, black suit, white skull face? Are they TRYING to bring the wrath of the lwa down on the production? And then if they make any toys out of him...if I ever had the time (or owned enough shares to bother) to go to the shareholders' meeting I would want an explanation, Disney. (However, hey, if it sells...)

I do wonder about that...

I liked the movie anyway, but still. I wonder about that.

I read somewhere that he was designed that way on purpose, and that Mama Odie was designed after a Lwa too (Although I'm not 100% sure about that one).

Not all us LA girls are hip Cosmo STD farms. Although I speak only for myself.

Well, I didn't say all the girls in LA... personally I'm not a Cosmo girl either, so that's what I get for generalizing!

They also have a bit of concept art on the site of the new queen, who looks much more like a villain than a hero (but maybe that's the twist in this story).

She was the villain in the original story. It's not a twist.

For real. Maybe they're just assuming that the title character is always the hero?
