I was going to say the same thing, but is there any possible way they're not going to fuck it up by introducing some goofy comic relief and overly chipper protagonists?

The Snow Queen is a serious, beautiful fairytale. What's the likelihood any of its pathos will make it to the screen (and through the marketing machine)?

They will have little animal friendos to help them out. Like, an Arctic fox or perhaps some kind of weasel. And birds.

Well of course, that goes with the territory. What I meant is that I don't have a lot of hope that it will be limited to the obligatory cute little friend animal. It seems rather likely that they'll want to cast some big-name actor and give the character an obnoxious and distracting cultural twist, ala Eddie Murphy's dragon Mushu from Mulan.

Plus, the whole reason the female protagonist succeeds in the story - the reason animals help her, the reason she is able to defeat the Snow Queen's army - is her faith in God. How is that going to translate? I mean, I'm an atheist, so I don't care about the religious message as a religious message, but the pathos of the story is very much invested in the notion of God and prayer.

It will be just awful if this story is twisted into a spunky grrrl power adventure. There's a place for spunky grrrl power adventures, but this story is not it.

Haha, I like how the link is like "BUT WAIT, is the Queen a villain WHAT A TWIST THAT WOULD BE!" Well, yeah, it's not even a twist. That's like saying it's a surprise that the witch in Hansel and Gretel turns out to be evil.

But seriously, The Snow Queen is one of the best fairy tales out there. I hope they do well with it.
