They also have a bit of concept art on the site of the new queen, who looks much more like a villain than a hero (but maybe that's the twist in this story).

She was the villain in the original story. It's not a twist.

For real. Maybe they're just assuming that the title character is always the hero?

Oh thank God I wasn't the only one who caught that. I like The Snow Queen but I'm kind of nervous to see what Disney will do with it, given, well, what they do with everything else (I'm looking at you, Hercules. *shudder*).

Also am I the only one who always pictured the Snow Queen as, like, terribly beautiful? That concept art is just not jiving with me.

Well, I think Disney does better with actual fairy tales then when they go outside to general mythology.

It'll be interesting to see how they deal with the mirror-ice-shard-in-the-kid's-heart, too.
I always did think a sharp icicle would make the perfect murder weapon...it'd melt--voila, no weapon evidence!
