Since I had the camera out snapping pictures of the new chicks today, I grabbed the opportunity to take a few more around the place. I think it'll be interesting to see how the scenery changes as the seasons turn!
Can you handle the chicks at all? I don't know if I would be able to stop myself from at least "scritching" their necks or such. They're sooooo cute, and the fuzz is sooooo soft!
Oh yes we can handle them!! :D Not too much when they are small, and I have to be really careful with the kids so they don't squeeze, but the really young chicks will just stand on the palm of your hand or crouch there. As they get older they will perch on your finger like a parakeet, and as they get older still, they will perch on your wrist like a falcon (that's the stage my "big girls" are in right now.) They also like to sit on my knees if I'm sitting down near them, and fly up to my shoulders and munch on my hair. They let me pet them, and some of them love to be scratched under their wings! :D They're so much fun!
Thank you! Yes I think my husband did a good job on that. It turns out it's not going to be big enough for all of my chickens (totally my fault, lol) but he's a good sport about it. :) He's already started on a big (8X10 or maybe 8X12) chicken house for my addiction my chickies and will fence in a big pasture for them too.
