So much TV, so little time

Sep 27, 2006 17:33

My DVR is 68% full and I have a stack of DVDs that are waiting to be watched. It's pretty sad when you start to feel pressured to watch more TV. *g*

What I have managed to see:

24 Season 4 )

tv: house, tv: other, tv: 24, tv: heroes

I got like 30 minutes into B&S. It's not as clever as I thought it would be. I would appreciate it if they treated us like adults and just told a story and let us pick up on the back story as it went along. I hate when TV thinks it has to shove everything down your throat and explain everything rightthisminute. It's a bit cliched in regards to the siblings and their "issues" and aside from two of the guys, none of them resemble each other... I'm gonna watch the rest and probably give it a few weeks given the spectacular cast. I hope it improves...

I still haven't watched, but I've got it saved and I'll give it a few episodes, probably. There's not anything on opposite it that I have to see. :-)

I liked the pilot for Kidnapped, even though it's not a show I am itching to watch. Quite a bit better than Vanished, which I've already given up on.

Studio 60 I like a lot. It does have to surmount the problem I've seen a lot of people mention, which is that if they are going to keep talking about how Matt and Danny are so much funnier than everyone else, they need to show at least a little bit of the show being funny. But the backstage stuff works really well.

I really enjoyed Heroes, with the minor quibble that I think it really should have had a two-hour premiere. Introducing that many characters at once it hard to do, but I found all of them at least somewhat intriguing. Incidentally, that has to be the world's most indestructible cheerleader's uniform. :)

I watched Brothers and Sisters on Sunday. It was better than I expected based on things I'd read. It's entirely not my type of show, though, so I doubt I'll be sticking with it.

It's hard to introduce all those characters in a one hour pilot - 2 hours would have been better. But I'm definitely intrigued.

but it's really all about the very genuine chemistry between Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford.

Without that, the show would not have nearly as much of my attention. I do think the show needs to grow and develop more and I do have faith it will. But for now, the banter alone keeps me entertained.

how can Gale Harold be so scorching on Queer as Folk and so...not, in this?I'm convinced it's the suit. And the haircut. The whole show, in general, felt very...miscast. Especially Ming Na as a cop. I didn't buy a moment of that. The main appeal of "Kidnapped" is Jeremy Sisto, but I also have had a longtime crush on Tim Hutton since my days of being obsessed with "Ordinary People". I'm not sure how much I'll love this plot for more than one season, let alone one. THat's my one concern ( ... )

I love Jeremy Sisto's intensity - he was a favorite of mine on Six Feet Under, and he's very believable in this role. But it's great to see Tim Hutton again.

I think Jerry was right (above) when he said Heroes would have benefited from a 2 hour pilot - like Lost had a couple of years ago. It's hard to introduce all those characters in 1 hour and have it not seem too much. That said, they did a good job, considering.

I loved Heroes. I hope it finds an audience.

And I also laughed several times while watching House.

And I also have several shows Tivo'd that I need to catch up on. But I'd rather check out LJ first :)

The evil internets are a time sucker - just like the evil TV. :-)

Re Heroes -- bring on Grunberg! I couldn't focus on the first hour, but am waiting for the wonderful Greg before I give up. :-)

And yay Matthew Perry and Brad Whitford!

Also, yay you! [hugs]

I think the pilot suffered from too many characters, not enough time syndrome - I have hopes it will improve. It's a good sign when I like the cheerleader. :-)

::hugs!::
