"Oh my..," Leeteuk choked out, colour draining quickly from his face.
"What happened to you two?"
He rushed over to their two missing friends who just appeared in the doorway.

Eunhyunk and Donghae looked quite roughed up.

Their hair was messed up and their clothes were torn in various places, mostly due to scratches and slits.
Donghae had Eunhyunk's arm draped over his shoulder, supporting him as the smaller one was having quite a lot of trouble standing on his damaged leg.

"Ran into trouble," Donghae coughed slightly before smirking grimly.
"But we were able to chase them away."

Leeteuk sighed worriedly before shooing both lycans to the couch to rest and getting Kangin.

It didn't take long for the rest of the house to wake up and gather in the living room where Kangin was patching up the wounded pair.

"I'm finished," Kangin declared after a few minutes, packing up his stuff. "You both were lucky, the wounds aren't too bad, just rest a bit."

Both lycans nodded at his words, Donghae staring at his hand and hissing softly as he tried turning it around.

"So what happened?" Leeteuk asked again once all the lycans and vampires had gathered.  Their friends sat on the ground and on the few chairs, looking worriedly at the two of them.

"Well, " Eunhyunk started, "we kind of got attacked on the way home." He averted his eyes, uncertain how to continue and looked at Donghae for help.

"Yeah...," the brown haired muttered, playing with the bandage on his hand.

"And?" Leeteuk asked again, face serious. "What happened exactly? They surely didn't just came up to attack you for fun?"

Donghae and Eunhyunk exchanged gazes again before sighing softly. "I think they smelled it," Donghae spoke, looking up with a frown and earning questioning looks.

"They wanted to know where we are hiding the traitor," Eunhyunk finished eventually.  His eyes slowly turned towards Yesung who was sitting on the carpet between Ryeowook and Kibum.

**********

Yesung could hear his own heartbeat thumping inside his chest as the room fell into dead silence.

The traitor

He visibly shuddered as he could feel everyone's eyes on him.
He couldn't tell them, mustn't tell them.
They would hate him, would curse at him, kick him out or in the worst case scenario kill him.

As much as he trusted them right now.... Yesung squeezed his eyes tight as the trembling got worse.  Suddenly he felt a warm hand slipping around his shoulders.

He jumped slightly before opening his eyes to find himself in Kibum's comforting embrace.
"Calm down," the vampire whispered, rubbing his hand gently along Yesung's arm.
"Nothing's happening."

Nodding slightly the young lycan breathed in deep and he looked up slowly, meeting worried eyes.

"!..," he started but broke off again, not knowing how to tell his secret.
A rush of fear shot through him again leaving his shoulders shaking and breath quickening.

"Breathe," he heard Kibum whispering as he felt a hand brushing over his cheek, erasing tears he hadn't felt falling.

He focused on his breathing again.

He had to tell them, they deserved it. Fighting with himself he slowly looked up to Donghae and Eunhyunk, the  two who were wounded because of him.

A pang of guilt hit him as he looked at the two lycans on the couch before straightening up.

" I - I'm the son of the sovereign," he whispered finally, eyes not meeting the others as he stared at the ground. "I'm the next in line for the throne."

He shut his eyes tightly, waiting for any potential backlash he would receive.

"We know."

Yesung's eyes flew open as he finally heard Leeteuk's voice, looking in utter disbelief at the elder's gentle smile.

"We knew from the start, Yesung. But it's good to hear it coming from you." Leeteuk smiled down at him.

They knew...
Yesung swallowed hard, feeling the tears prickling in his eyes again; they knew and hadn't said anything. Pressing back against Kibum, he tried hard to suppress his sobbing .

"Just tell us one thing," came the voice of Leeteuk through the beating of his own heart.  He nodded softly.
"What did you do that caused the king to ban his own son?"

Yesung stiffened again as a slash of red flashed across his vision.
His gaze darkened visibly as he looked up to the alpha, meeting his eyes.

"I attacked him." he stated clearly as tears ran from blank eyes down his suddenly emotionless face while the screaming in his ears swelled.

"I tried to rip out his throat."

*************

Yesung didn't really remember much of what happened afterward.
He just could recall Leeteuk stopping the questioning and Kibum bringing him back into his room as screams rang through his ears and blood spilled all over his vision.

Perhaps he did go crazy after all.

The young lycan sighed softly as he hugged his stuffed toy. The screams had stopped and vanished back, along with the bloody pictures, into his memories, ready to haunt him again at any time.

Turning around in his bed he saw Ryeowook's eyes on him. The young boy sat on his own bed across from Yesung, watching him closely.

"You should sleep," Ryeowook said, worried eyes searching Yesung's.
"We'll get through it, believe me."

Smiling softly Yesung nodded, feeling slightly exhausted and tired.

"Yeah," he whispered, before wishing Ryeowook a good night.  Turning around again, he slowly closed his eyes as he felt sleep coming over him.

************

Bang!

The eyes of the young lycan didn't even twitch as his father stared down at him, hand still extended from the previous slap.
It hadn't been his first one today after all.

"Where have you been?" the the man asked, voice calm and hard.

Jongwoon kept silent. Being numb to his father's abuse after all these years he kept his gaze fixed and blank.

Seeing his son keeping quiet, the man raised his hand again and successfully sent the boy flying across the room and smashing into the wall.

"I will find out where you are prowling," the old man growled as he turned around leaving his only son on the ground behind.

Jongwoon hissed slightly, fingertips ghosting over his split lip as his father left.

His father wouldn't find out, Yesung thought to himself with a smirk. He had kept his secret from the man for the last four years.  And he knew that it angered the older man to not know what his son was doing and that he wasn't able to control him.

Slowly lifting himself up, the young lycan dusted off his clothes and made his way past the guards who didn't miss their chance to nudge him rather hard as he passed by.

His life was still hell.

His father was getting ruder from day to day as he realized that his son wouldn't conform to his standards and rules like he was supposed to do and sneaking out at night to do whatever it was he did.

Smiling softly the young boy strolled through the corridors of the old fortress, remembering why he was still here.

Looking out through one window he realized the sun was almost gone and he hurried a bit, taking the next turnoff towards his room.

Closing the door behind him Jongwoon sighed as he saw a young woman standing in front of him, Sunming..

"You're back," she smiled as she shooed him over to the couch, inspecting his bloody lip and hurting arm. "He came to you again?"

Jongwoon hissed as she pulled his arm out of his shirt and bent it a bit before grabbing a bandage already lying on the table.

"Yeah," he nodded, trying to move his arm before Sunming grabbed it again.

"Don't do that," she ordered, wrapping the twisted arm in a strong bandage.
Finishing her work she sat back staring sadly at him.

"At times like this you remind me of my little brother," she laughed. "He used to get himself all messed up while playing around."

Frowning slightly at the new bandage Jongwoon looked up.
"You have a brother?" he asked.

Sunming hadn't been living there for very long, one year at most.
Jongwoon's father had brought her in, complaining that he didn't had time to look after his son every second, which had amused Jongwoon to no end, because the older man wouldn't have taken care of him at all.

"A brother?" he questioned, curious what happened to the boy.

"Yeah," she smiled sadly. "He's a bit older than you though, I lost sight of him as your father brought me here."

Jongwoon nodded stiffly, looking towards the ground.
"Do you miss him?"

"Of course I do," she laughed bitterly, but stopped as she saw the young lycan's guilty expression.

"But it's ok, I know he'll do well on his own, he has a strong personality." Brushing quickly through Jongwoon's hair she pulled a little, rumpled picture out of her pocket.
"That's him," she mused turning the picture around.

The boy in the picture who grinned proudly at the camera was thin and patched up with various bandages, his red hair messed up in all directions.

"May I keep it?" Jongwoon asked quietly, feeling slightly uneasy. Perhaps the boy would come into the castle to meet his sister one day and they could be friends.

Looking surprised at the question before smiling softly Sunming nodded. "Sure, but keep it safe; I really treasure him," she smiled, before handing over the photo.

Nodding, Jongwoon took the picture gently, placing it in his nightstand by his bed.

"I'll be out here," Sunming smiled.  "Call me if you need something."

Jongwoon nodded, waving her off before turning around and hunting down a warm jacket and a scarf; he was going out again.

*************

It was perhaps an hour later with the sun having already crossed the horizon when Jongwoon left the castle, quickly running down the path towards the big forest.

Ducking behind a huge bush he looked around carefully, noting if someone was around. Smiling slightly as nobody was seen he was about to stand up again as a harsh push on his arm made him fall down again.

Nearly shrieking out loud Jongwoon turned around roughly, ready to fight only to look into Sunming's questioning eyes.

"Where are you going?," the girl hissed quietly, holding his wrist in her tight grip. "That's dangerous."

Able to breath normally again after the sudden shock Jongwoon slowly shook his head.

"It isn't," he smiled, trying to wriggle his hand out of her grasp, "believe me."

"You're not going to see them again, right?" she asked worriedly, "Your father will find out."

Jongwoon looked at her with big eyes. "When..? You know?" he stuttered.  He was perplexed as he hadn't told her anything.

"I followed you one night," she confessed, "because I was worried. You just leave the castle almost every night and nobody knows anything."

Jongwoon shifted back uncomfortably. He thought he had made sure nobody had followed him at any time, and here he was proven wrong.

"Please," he whispered after a short time, "please don't tell anyone." He looked down nervously, playing with the grass beneath him. "They're really nice and it's fun to be around them, so different from being closed off in the castle the whole day." He looked at her again with pleading eyes.
"I beg you," he whispered.

Sunming was ready to pull him back into his room as she looked into the younger boy's eyes, which stared back at her with sadness and begging for understanding.
She sighed quietly.
"Ok," she finally whispered, "but take care of yourself.  I won't tell anything."

Eyes lightning up Jongwoon grinned happily.
"Thank you," he whispered before turning around and vanishing into the darkness of the forest.

"Take care," Sunming whispered again before turning around too, unaware of the cold eyes watching her from afar.

************

"You look like shit," Zhoumi welcomed him at the clearing, earning himself a smack on the head.

"Thank you very much," Jongwoon murmured, following the tall vampire towards the other two, gathered on a blanket under a big tree.

"Hi~" Henry waved at him from afar. "We brought food. Hurry up before he eats everything," he laughed pointing at the brown haired vampire beside him, who smiled slyly.

Moving closer to the blanket slowly Jongwoon smiled. As he watched Zhoumi and Henry fighting over the last piece of tuna sandwich he felt a hand tugging at his sleeve.

"Sit down already will you?" the brown haired boy smiled, "I don't like seeing people standing around."

Nodding slightly Jongwoon sat down. After grabbing a cup of juice the vampire and lycan watched the other two wrestling around, leaving them laughing time and again.

The nights were getting colder and Jongwoon found himself shivering again, despite his warm jacket, as they sat on the blanket after eating everything.

Rubbing his hands together to get a bit warmer he felt himself being tugged onto the brown haired's lap, two arms wrapped around him.

"What is it with you and too thin clothing?," he murmured into Jongwoon's ear as he started to rub his hands along the lycan's arms, helping him to warm up.
"Sometimes I think you're doing it on purpose."

Smiling happily Jongwoon snuggled deeper into the provided warmth, sighing softly.
"Perhaps I do," he laughed as he played with the other's necklace.

"You little attention whore," the boy laughed, pinching the lycan's ear lightly .

"You love me anyway," Jongwoon smiled before yelping at the pinch.
"Meanie~" he pouted but did not try to move away.

The vampire laughed again before turning serious, scratching Jongwoon's ears for a bit before pulling him up.

"Come, I have something to tell you," he said leading the baffled lycan towards the lake.

Confused at the boy's sudden seriousness Jongwoon followed him.  He sat down in the grass beside the brown haired, who remained silent for a moment.

The stars were shining brightly that night as the lake reflected the light of the shining moon.
Taking in the peaceful picture Jongwoon relaxed as he closed his eyes.

"I'm going away."

The young lycan's eyes flew open as the voice reached him.
Turning slightly he stared at the other with disbelief in his eyes.

"You're joking, right?" he whispered towards the vampire, who kept staring at him.
Silence fell onto them as Jongwoon slowly sat up.

"You're really going..." he whispered, tears prickling in his eyes. "Why?"

The vampire slowly shook his head. "My family can't stay with the others any more, we need to run."
Reaching out with one hand he carefully brushed the dark bangs out of the lycan's face.
"I'll be gone later tonight."

Jongwoon stared at him in disbelief as the tears started running freely down his face. He didn't want this, not now. Perhaps when he was older then he could tag along, but now...

"Hey," the vampire whispered brushing his tears away, "don't cry."
The young lycan sobbed quietly as he leaned into the gentle touch, eying the other with pleading eyes.
"Please don't go."

Sighing softly the young vampire pulled away.
"I have to," he muttered, his hands slowly reaching behind him opening the clasp of his necklace.

"Here," he whispered, leaning forward and fastening the gem around the lycan's neck.
His hand remained on Jongwoon's cheek a few moments, stroking gently as the brown haired leaned forward a bit, pressing their lips together in a chaste kiss.

"I'll come back for you, I promise."

*****************

He could feel a burning sensation on his cheek as he stared down at the floor, mind totally blank since coming back to the castle.

A sharp yell escaped him as he was roughly grabbed by the collar and pushed towards the dungeon.

He could hear the door crashing open and screams from further down the dungeon as the guards threw him into a small room on the left.

Panting slightly Jongwoon looked up with glassy eyes.

"So there you are," his father snarled at him while gripping his hair and laughing when the young lycan winced. "Thought I would never find out, right?"

A soft whine to his right side caught Jongwoon's attention as he tried to ignore his father. Turning his head a little so he could see, he gasped audibly.

Sunming knelt there, flanked by two guards holding her upright.

"You're really a disgrace to this family," his father roared again. "haven't I taught you anything?"

The older men crouched down taking the young lycan's chin between his fingers.

"Vampires." his father spat.
"On top of all what is crawling around out there." he shoved his son back onto the floor.

Jongwoon froze. How..?

"And you," his father walked towards Sunming."You knew and didn't tell."
The young woman whimpered quietly, looking down.

"Execute her." the king hissed, "I don't need traitors in my kingdom."

Sitting up straight Jongwoon's eyes flew open in an instant.
"NO!" he screamed, scrambling to his feet as his father turned away from him. "Leave her alone, she didn't do anything."

He didn't even have time to breathe as he felt himself pressed up against the closest wall, his father's hand firmly around his throat.

"You don't have room to talk here, Jongwoon," his father said, spitting his name out like a disease.
"Be happy that I won't kill you, Son."

Jongwoom nearly wanted to laugh out at that. Son?
Choking and gasping for breath as his father let him fall to the ground he crouched down, taking in deep breaths.

A pierced cry jerked him out of his trance.

It was as if time stopped as he watched Sunming fall to the ground.

He didn't notice the shirt being ripped from his body.
He didn't notice his father's screaming and the guard bringing him a hot dagger.
He didn't even feel the pain in his back as he watched the young women falling down in front of him, her teary eyes transfixed on him before every thing went black.

**********

Yesung woke with a scream, panting heavily as he stared down at his hands while twisted up inside his blanket.

"Hey."

Jumping back at the sudden voice, Yesung stared wide eyed at Ryeowook.
The young wolf was crouched in front of his bed, blanked draped around his shoulders.

"You were screaming, is everything alright?"

Staring at Ryeowook with glassy eyes he nodded slowly.
"Yes...yes everything's alright."

He watched Ryeowook stand up and return into his own bed, as he slowly lay himself down again.

"Sleep a bit," he heard the other mumble, "there are only a few hours left."

Crawling back under his sheets Yesung nodded into his pillow, aware that Ryeowook couldn't see him.

Slowly he closed his eyes again, trying to block out the burning sensation on his right shoulder blade.
