One of my friends became offended because I expressed my concerns that the wonderful-smelling, albeit feminine apricot hand lotion I always carry around may make others think that I am gay ( Read more... )

Think of it this way- why are you concerned that people will think you're gay? Do you hear gay people expressing concern that something makes them seem straight? Maybe "feminine" would be a better, and less offensive, term.

This is definitely a good point that I will consider. No, I guess gay people do not seem too concerned about being considered straight.

But I agree, feminine would be a term that would get my point across in a manner that is not as easy to misinterpret.

Anyway, I guess I realized that if people don't know me, they may assume I'm not cool with gays. So just as a forenote, I think gay people are just like any other people. There are gay people I like and gay people that I am not as fond of. And then there are gay people that I am terribly jealous of, because they get more attention than I do.

Just please do not repeat it in public. While homeosexuality is becoming accepted, saying profane things over and over again is not generally encouraged. The mothers will look at you in horror, the fathers will.. I'm not sure, and the kids... well they may look at you in awe, but then the mothers will come at you dangerously armed, and it may very well hurt.
