We found out on rather short notice yesterday that TJ would be free to help us most of the day. Bless him for helping us out, but due to his somewhat unstable work schedule it's pretty much impossible to plan for when he might be able to help us again. We've been getting things moved over a lot faster than I'd thought we would. Rachel's friend TJ has been a big help in that. He has a truck and has helped us move a lot of furniture ahead of our planned June 24th date for renting a truck to carry furniture. We went and got the keys to our new place today, and brought along a few things to start the whole moving thing off. It actually seems roomier than I remember it when we were looking at places. So, gave applications and checks to an apartment complex that's very close to my work, as well as being about a block from a mall. They couldn't hold the apartment as long as we'd like, and fearing someone else would get it (I literally overheard someone else in the office asking about the apartments, and there was only one of this type available) ( Read more... )

Tentatively, the date for moving is set to the last week of June, which would be Friday the 24th, Saturday the 25th, and possibly Sunday the 26th that we will be needing help with the loading and unloading. If anyone is free those dates to help us out, we'd all be gratified. Traditional offering of pizza and beer, of course. :)

Found out how much the rent is increasing, but it was all but superfluous. We'd already pretty much made up our minds that we'd be moving. Due in large part to the mold thing, which may be responsible for a certain mounting lack of zest (if not health) in all of us. We're probably going to start packing like nowish. We are moved into the house now, there are still a lot of things to unpack, organize, and put away. Things are coming into shape step by step. I plan to spend most of this weekend doing stuff around the house. The last few weekends have been consumed by moving or preparing to move. I had this sort of nightmare last night. We had moved into the new house and I couldn't believe that I hadn't noticed when we were checking the place out that the stove wasn't in the kitchen. We're going to have a housewarming party on Friday, July 16th to celebrate moving into a house in Hayward. So the die is cast, I gave a check to the realtors today for them to hold the house in Hayward for us. We're renting, not buying. Still, it's a big thing. It's actually one of the shortest moves I've made, considering it's not to another state. But it's the biggest move Rachel's made.
