Back when I was a teenager, lo these many years ago (sigh), I picked up an "Astrology for Beginners" type of book that led you through the steps to calculate basic info about your astrological chart. I proceeded to do just that.

Being in a somber mood (see previous post), I was thinking about the future and I came to an interesting insight about myself. I realized that I will probably be middle-class for the rest of my life -- that I will almost certainly never be rich. That, in fact, I don't actually want to be rich.

I saw something the other day1 that I never expected to see: somebody parallel-parking a tractor-trailer truck (aka "18-wheeler" or "big rig"). Not just any truck, mind you, but one of those extra-long moving vans! (How on earth he managed to find that many empty parking spaces in a row, in downtown Oakland, on a weekday, I'll never know...)
