And you know what? I STILL can't pick them up. I have to make three separate trips to pick up on firing. The guy who was there when I arrived didn't even want to open it yet, but then he agreed to crack it to crash cool so I can have it later today. Then the guy who loaded came in and unloaded it with gloves, but also said I couldn't have it yet.

Kit and I started a Parent and Child ceramics course last night. I'll say more about that later, but for now I can tell you that I got to pick up my pieces from the reduction kiln. Not terribly reduced, alas. I used a copper red glaze which was meant to pop to a very red red. I can try again in 2 months if I want to.
I haven't filled up for a while, but must do it soon. My tank holds 53 litres or 14 US Gallons. 53 x 1.119 (which is what the signs say) = £59.31 (US$115.90), making a US gallon cost £4.23. At today's exchange rate, our petrol costs US$8.26 per gallon.
