We interrupt this program...

I've been thinking a bit about LJ lately, and how I might change how I use it. The trouble is, I'd like to be able to have two friends lists, one more public for fellow authors, fans and other interesting people in sf, and one private one for close friends ( Read more... )

*snugs* sounds like a plan. I'm only sorry that you have to go through the whole process of doing so =(

Hopefully it'll mean I'll post publically more often, since it'll happen simultaneously in LJ and my author blog.

*g* I like the rss feeds to Jenny's and Russell's public blogs. Having a private friends only lj is also a good idea. Would you still be keeping your blogspot blog?

The knitting one? Yes. It's anonymous, and so utterly focussed on knitting that I think if any fans worked out it was me I'd be driving them nuts for once!

Have you thought about setting up another blog where comments are disabled? Blogger, for example. Then you can lock this LJ completely, and post more public stuff there without anyone being able to leave comments on it. (Doesn't have to be LJ - I use Myspace, blogger and wordpress too.)

I have a blog on my author website that has comments disabled. Originally it allowed comments, but nobody ever left any that referred at all to what the posts were about, instead putting the sort of 'like your work' thing there that was meant for the guestbook... and nobody was using the guestbook. And, of course, when people posted in the guestbook it was in response to the blog entries... sigh.

you do know that you have the option of filtering all of your posts to selected people, yes? I use it all the time.

Good luck setting it up - though I sympathise with the effort in having to do so. Cross fingers that it is painless.
