Day 25 - Favorite Who Actor / Day 26 - Favorite Who Actress

Feb 10, 2011 13:34

I think that my favorite actors and actresses have been fully determined already what with Favorite Doctor, Favorite Companion, Favorite Guest Star and so on. (I mean, is there any doubt that my favorite actor on Doctor Who is David Tennant? *looks around* No? Okay, let's move on!) So, in the interest of saying something new, I'm going to pick two ( Read more... )

I think I literally stopped breathing for a bit the first time I watched the episode and he opened the watch.

Yeah I didn't see that coming until Martha noticed the fob watch - that was amazingly cool!!!

It was an excellent episode to be unspoiled for! I wasn't in the fandom yet and had no idea what what was going to happen until that watch came out. So awesome.

Oooh, I may be going to see Jacobi in King Lear! (Thanks for mentioning that he was coming to New York!) Jay loves him and if his parents can come and watch Chicklet I'm going to try and get tickets. I think mid-week would be best. Jay can take a couple days off and we'll come down.

I know nothing about the city so I may need some advice if we actually do this.

I hope so too!!

No, I have never been. We even had relatives living there for a long time (my cousin and his sister) but we never went. So I'm a little nervous about it. It's just so big!

YES. I'm so happy you posted this! The friend of mine who introduced me to DW and I both agree that Derek Jacobi would make an excellent Master in a full storyline, but - I don't know if you've had this experience as well - some people get so DEFENSIVE about it, as though you were saying you would've rather had him than John Simm. I find myself having to qualify all my compliments with how much I absolutely John Simm, both as the Master and in his own right, before I can compliment Derek Jacobi, because apparently you can't have both.

Because, you know, no one else has EVER played the Master before.

Er, that would be "absolutely adore" John Simm up there. Typos are bad enough, never mind missing a word.

It's the cage match idea of fandom. Only one can survive so you must pick! I haven't had any issues about appreciating Jacobi as well as Simm though that may be because I'm quite obviously a fan of Simm!Master so it would be silly to think I would want to get rid of him. However, in the RTD vs. Moffat wars I do get the sense that loving RTD and talking about it means I hate Moffat, which I don't! (I like Moffat and s5 and I'm looking forward to s6 though my fannishness is less than for RTD's reign.)

Oh, jeez, RTD vs Moffat. I have managed to stay out of that...so far. I quite like them both, as well. RTD will always be the genius who brought DW back so amazingly, but Moffat is also just an excellent writer. And who better than a lifelong fan? Isn't that part of what made David Tennant such a great Doctor? I think I'll always have a soft spot for Moffat since he wrote Coupling, a show I absolutely adore (and starring Jack Davenport, whom I also love to death).

I sometimes get the feeling that some of the RTD vs Moffat debates are less about the writers and more about which Doctor you prefer, Ten or Eleven (Nine apparently doesn't count). Of course, nobody really dares point that out...
