Oooh, I may be going to see Jacobi in King Lear! (Thanks for mentioning that he was coming to New York!) Jay loves him and if his parents can come and watch Chicklet I'm going to try and get tickets. I think mid-week would be best. Jay can take a couple days off and we'll come down.

I know nothing about the city so I may need some advice if we actually do this.

I hope so too!!

No, I have never been. We even had relatives living there for a long time (my cousin and his sister) but we never went. So I'm a little nervous about it. It's just so big!

I may be going myself! Have fun! If you're a little intimidated by the city and want to stay nearby, the Brooklyn Bridge Marriot is less than a mile away from BAM and you can usually get a room for under $300 depending when you go. It's recently remodeled too, and very nice. If you want to make a theater vacation of it and stay in the theater district I like the Marriot Marquis, you can't beat the location. You can walk to most of the theaters, the concierge can do anything, and it's reasonable for the area. If you're looking to completely splurge on something really special, the St. Regis is a gorgeous old Beaux Arts place, but you'll spend three times as much.
