Does anyone recall an entry that was posted here detailing someone's vasectomy experience?  I recall it being very frank and humourous.  I've checked the applicable tags, and I've gone through a large chunk of the archives, but it's starting to feel like a needle in the haystack.

I'm looking for it because the topic of vasectomy has been coming ( Read more... )

My partner had a vasectomy about a year ago, and while I can't detail his firsthand account, I can tell you a little about what he went through ( ... )

Also, he has no children. The doctor said, "Are you sure this is what you want to do?" He said yes, and the doctor gave him all the info he needed, made an appointment for six months after the consult date (in case he changed his mind) and after he said, "yes, I'm still sure", the doctor gave him no hassle whatsoever, no lecturing, no runaround, nothing.

When I'd asked my doctor about Essure (before this), I had the same outcome you're experiencing. It was a hell of a lot easier for him to get a vasectomy, sadly.

Every time I see something where someone's spouse/S.O. has to okay something like this I wonder what the hell single people are supposed to do. ;)

Maybe it would be simpler for some folks to pretend they're single in cases like this; they might get to skip this intrusive step.

The fact that you had to sign a statement is ludicrous. No person should be able to control what happens in another person's body, regardless of the impact it might have on a relationship. Thanks for the details, though. :)

Are you sure the entry you're looking for isn't over on Childfree Hardcore?

Good suggestion, and it might be posted there as well, but I definitely read it here (I don't usually go on Childfree Hardcore). Thanks for the idea, though. :)

"Lucky for us, both vascectomies and Essure are covered under our provincial health care plan."

Holy crap, I'm becoming a Newfie! :D :P For some reason, I seem to recall seeing that Essure at least isn't covered in Ontario, or at least not completely. Time to dig around some more.

I KNOW! When I e-mailed the Essure people and they said it was covered, I was like, "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
