[Not being one to even consider trying to drive one of those self-propelling vehicles, many people may find Varric on his way down to the Liquor store. He's actually quite enjoying his job at the bar, and wants to do his best to practice his drink making prowess. He may be trying to find ( Read more... )

"I've never met a dwarf before... Do you have choleria tea?"

Uh...I really don't think we've got anything in the way of tea at a bar. The booze is a lot more fun to drink, though, let me tell you.

"They tell me I'm too young for booze, so, I can't say."

That so? You sound young, but then again so does Daisy but she's old enough to do as she wants.

Exactly how old are you?

[Have a dark elf coming in, ignoring the stares and glares of the drones. It's obvious she doesn't care that this place considers itself male-only. She does glance around momentarily, but seeing no Gilgamesh, comes over to the bar to sit]

Got any Vodka back there?

[Varric utters a gruff chuckle, while giving the newcomer a look of "are you kidding?"]

Of course! How do you want that? [Varric asks as he turns to grab one of the Vodkas. He doesn't have any idea of different grades of alcohol yet...he's been too busy learning the names, types and tastes of them all.]

Just normal. No ice. It just dilutes it.

[Varric, figuring this woman probably just, knows how to drink, is going to go ahead and pour this woman a tumbler of straight vodka.]

Buy the sound of your choice in drink it's been rough. Care to tell the tale?

A dwarf? Here? Truly, this place knows no limits...

[Andraste's dimpled buttcheeks...Varric can recognize that voice anywhere.]

Yea, no limits...it seems all of Thedas is here, actually.

Well then, shall we set up the Chantry and begin subjugating mages now, or later?

I take it you know me, then. You must be a Kirkwall resident. Your name, now.

Well, it's not really my policy to speak to the living dead...but since you asked so nicely...

You just might recall the name Varric Tethras.

[Staring at said concoctions, eyebrows raised.]

Should I be afraid?

I'm hurt, Hawke. Do you really think I'd offer you something that was less than safe?

Well...besides offering to buy drinks at the Hanged Man, of course....but that doesn't count.

[You know what? What the hell. Being drunk in Mayfield has never been a bad idea in the past, and if someone is promising an interesting time? Who is he to not investigate?

So have a pink peacock mincing his way into the building, going right on up to the bar and perching on a barstool with a smirk at Varric.]

You made a phone call?

Well, that's one hell of an outfit, stranger! Looks pretty good, but I'd have to say I probably couldn't pull that off.

I did make one of those "phone calls," and now I'm serving the drinks. Let's get what you're having out of the way first.

[Oh, Dist likes you already. Of course, a compliment goes a long way with him.]

I admit, it's a difficult ensemble for the average person to carry very well. I've always been extraordinary that way, but you've an eye for good taste.

I don't know if you have the things to make a lemon martini, but if you do, that would be lovely. It doesn't sound like you've been in Mayfield long.

["Good taste..." right.]

Well, I do know Martinis...so maybe I can figure it out.

[Varric sets to work, answering Dist's other statement as he mixes the peacock's drink of choice.]

You guessed right, haven't been here long at all. It's a good thing I was assigned this line of work, though...I still feel right at home.

[Varric finishes with Dist's drink, placing the slice of lemon ever so carefully on the rim of the martini glass and setting it in front of the Peacock.]

Besides, places like this are best for learning new things, as well.
