Happiness, it hurt like a train on a track coming towards her, stuck stil no turning back

If anyone is still following me and thinks I'm worth their time to comment on ( I've been a bad LJ friend but I'm BEGGING for advice)

I've been pondering what to do with this journal and my life in general. I feel like I need a fresh start on a new journal. I haven't done much with this one in a long time. I've lost interest in some fandoms, most ( Read more... )

So, I said yes because sometimes, it's easier to start over than trying to build something back up to what it use to be. And I totally get the whole trying to figure things out after high school. I tried to do that last year and had a tough time too. The thing is though, after awhile, it's hard to make others happy. So, don't. In most situations, it is more important to focus on yourself and your happiness. If people don't like what you're doing, so long as it is not hazardous to your health, ignore them. Those who care about you will be happy with whatever you choose. And even if they hate it at first, they might grow to accept it and then maybe try to get close to you again, if they don't, they aren't worth your time ( ... )

I started college in the fall of 08 and that's when all the major family drama hit mostly because my step dad lost his job and then in summer 09 our house that we lived in for nearly 10 years got foreclosed and the whole lack of money and this economy have really took a toll on us.

I don't get my family. And by family I mean my mom, stepdad and my brothers. Mostly my mother. She's just...she's impossible.

People have told me to take time off for my self and figure out what I want to do but I don't have that fortune because no monies.

Thanks, it does help.

Or you could lock up your journal to date (like private the entries) and 'start fresh' knowing no one else can see anything? I've done that a couple of times.

Hmmm, I could try that.

i'm torn...
i like the symbolism of starting a new journal, but i don't know if you plan on deleting this one or just locking all of the posts so only you can see them?
you can always start a new one and feel it out ... and if you don't like it you have 30 days or something to take back deleting this one, don't you?

i'm no good at advice. :(

At this point any advice is good advice.

I was thinking if I start a new one I'll make a entry giving my new journal so people can find me before deleting this one.

It's your journal so I feel sort of silly trying to tell you what you should do with it. Starting a new one and linking to it from this one works just fine for me *shrugs*

I can say that... a new journal won't always work. I tried it, and really, in the end because my reasoning wasn't sound enough, I ended up feeling worse than before, because I let silly circumstances dictate over half a decade's worth of content.

But if you're dedicated to making the changes you want to, get a new journal. Let it be documentation of your "new" self. Positive reinforcement!
