My mom talked about some of my dads Vietnam experiences to me tonight. She told me when his base was blown up and the mess hall destroyed obviously they had no food. The Red Cross came in and tried to charge them for donuts and coffee? Interesting. He also made it into a foxhole just in time during an attack. When the town up the road from my parents town was sucked up by an F5 twister a few years back the Red Cross was charging for donuts and coffee and tried to justify it by saying that the bank wasn't blown away so they all still had money. :( Rat bastards.

What an experience that must have been for you Dad. It is sad to know that charging soldiers for their food isn't a new practice.
