Day Seventeen: Culmination

Sep 24, 2003 08:40

Although the workweek is not yet over, I'll spend this entry telling stories about yesterday because, well, yesterday was eventful.

Okay, they're really just boring work stories. Go visit one of my earlier journal entries, maybe the one where I contemplated the value of pie.

Damn! Do I miss the days when I could sneak in with you and be a temporary member of Protocol. But now with 9-11 and all the higher security, I can't. Shoot. And all I'm stuck with now is my second-to-last Protocol reception, the infamous Kuwaiti Affair. I'll let you tell the story--- you're better at it than I am. And I was a little pre-occupied for most of it.

But I commend you for chilling with Mr. Karzai, Colin Powell, and his daughter. Too bad you didn't have any business cards on hand to give her one. We gotta fix that.

I'm trying to count the number of drinks mentioned in this entry, but my little art history brain doesn't grasp numbers that high. No wonder you kick all our asses at Hive parties.

The whale room rules! I used to love going there when I was a kid. I went to a dinner after Earthday 2000 held in the main room of the Air and Space museum. That was neat because it was in the museum, but we were tired, grubby from being out in the rain and dirt all day, and no really cool people showed up.

Absolutely. I love that museum. And now that they finally finished renovating the whale, the planetarium, and the dinosaur exhibits, it's fully up and running. We must go one weekend!

That is one of the best stories I've ever had the pleasure of reading.

Why thank you. You always say the nicest things. ;)

And you look cool in this pic. I'm calling you Aaliyah from now on.

Well, at least you're a little more lively than she is.

The new planetarium does kick ass. I took Kathy there a year or 2 ago. But I was pissed because I couldn't show her the giant whale. It wasn't there. It was being cleaned or repaired or something.

If I were you, I would've gone back to Colin's daughter and been like: "By the way, your perfume smells wonderful. What's it called? I'd like to buy my boyfriend a bottle. Gotta go!"

I must say, you do have an interesting job though. I mean, you seem to work some crazy hours, but at least it's interesting. And damn, you're well-fed.

Seeing as how she was attractive, I don't think that Hans wanted to give the "I'm gay" vibe. I could be wrong though... there's a first time for everything. =)

Thanks for the vote of confidence... ;)

No, at that point I was sending out the "I'm an upstanding, if slightly inebriated, American citizen, please don't shoot me" vibe. It's an important one to master around Secret Service guys. They're touchy about stuff.

Ah, you're missing my point. I was just trying to throw out an option that suggests "No, I wasn't just getting my groove on with Colin Powell's daughter." Playing the gay card would do that.
