Sumo, Revisited...

Jun 21, 2006 09:19

Previously, our hero had found himself at the mercy of the World Sumo Wrestling League and the infinite shenanigans that went along with a performance of the ages. The tale was magical, but lacked photographic evidence and support... until now.

Now behold the picspamming power of Iron Mountain! )

Why, O why, did you not go topless underneath your orange vest, too? Is there too much fuzz on the Vizier's chest?

The costumes! Bwahahahaha!! Though I did envision the wrist things being colored and puffier, like little puffy sleeves on your wrists. It could have been worse... ;)

On a serious note: Not that I follow sumo, but there was an article recently about the influx of sumo wrestlers in Japan who are non-Japanese. One guy who's pretty popular, and apparently really good, is from Blugaria. There are a few others from other places too. I'll see if I can dig up the article. It's a little weird that Japan, mostly populated by short, skinny people, would develop a sport for imensely fat men, isn't it?

I think the winner of this tournament was also Bulgarian. Or maybe he got second. But there were a bunch, and they were pretty good. I think they were the ones who looked like Tony Soprano.

And yes, only the Japanese could come up with a sport that's diametrically opposed to their natural physiological structure and make it work. Those wacky guys.
