I've been toying with the idea of having 'event' weeks. Possibly, if the first one goes well, as a monthly thing (1 week out of the month). What I have envisioned is:
We agree on a pairing or a 'type' of fic/art, then the event starts during the first week of the month

Good suggestion!
I can't edit the poll now because people have already voted, but 'threesome' (and moresomes) will definitely be an option for the event after in May (assuming this one goes well).
(I must also shamefully admit I completely forgot to add Lelouch/Rolo - even though that's the 2nd or 3rd most popular yaoi pairing in the show! >_< Sorry. That, too, will definitely be an option for the round after).
Sorry about that. Let's just go with existing options in the poll this time, since it's too late to edit? I'll take all your suggestions and add whatever you guys want for the May poll! ^_^
Sure! I'll add it in for the May poll (which will go up if the April event goes well).
I can't really add it now because the poll is now closed to editing since people have voted, and it would also seem a bit unfair to throw it in now - so let's just go with the options I have up there for now, and I'm totally open for suggestions for other stuff the round after, k? ♥
While I like the idea of mini-freezes on all but one type of prompt, I'm not too excited about having "you can only prompt this one pairing" events. It's too specific and limiting, imo. Kinda takes some of the fun out of it.
I'm not a fan of this idea. What's wrong with just giving prompts and whatever inspires an author gets written. :/ There's no rules that say you can't prompt or write one of these rare pairings.
I...really don't like this idea at all. It doesn't feel like a meme anymore. It feels like one of the themed writing communities. (This weeks theme is...) I know I write when I see something that inspires me. And if the character of the weekend or whatever is something I'm not interested in at all, I'm likely to walk away and less likely to come back. (I realize that I could keep writing for old prompts during that time, but I'd feel guilty NOT writing about whatever the 'winner' was - which is totally irrational, but true. ^^;;;)
I'm guessing this is a result of an overwhelming amount of one type of prompt on the pairing (as much as we love it, variety is the spice of life...) I'd rather see something like a 48 hour freeze on prompts with X in it. Whether it be a specific pairing, or a specific character.
(You aren't necessarily putting pressure on me. I just have this THING. It's called being raised Catholic. Guilt. If I could make money off of it, I'd be rich enough to just sit here and write fills all day)
Not trying to be flaming or anything here, but...with the RP decision, the 'make another post' option won but it was decided that signed in RP wouldn't be allowed because it wasn't really what the kink meme was about. I feel like this falls into the same category/reasoning as that decision. Yes, it's still writing fic which is more in line with the meme, but I still feel like that isn't the main idea of the post. If that makes any sense. /horrible at making thoughts coherent.
We decided against RPing because it's not fulfilling the main purpose: it's not generating any new fills. It also wasn't what the discussion thread is, which, while it isn't generating any new fills directly, has been proven to be quite popular. Plainly put, most people didn't like the RPing, and we as mods felt that the fact it wasn't helping anyone getting anything filled/didn't seem to inspire any new fills - fail on both fronts - it's something we didn't want to do. And as I said above: we're an experimental meme. Some things work for the community (the discussion thread) - it stays. Some things don't work for the comm (the RPing) - it goes. Trial and error. This event thing is no different. I'm tempted to quote a cheesy line about how only he who dares -- okay, stopping right there LOLWill it generate more activity and fills total? Maybe - I think it has a chance to, because it has the vibe of a community effort, and events could be advertised at all the communities on LJ focusing on that
