I've been toying with the idea of having 'event' weeks. Possibly, if the first one goes well, as a monthly thing (1 week out of the month). What I have envisioned is:
We agree on a pairing or a 'type' of fic/art, then the event starts during the first week of the month
( Read more... )
While I like the idea of mini-freezes on all but one type of prompt, I'm not too excited about having "you can only prompt this one pairing" events. It's too specific and limiting, imo. Kinda takes some of the fun out of it.
I'm not a fan of this idea. What's wrong with just giving prompts and whatever inspires an author gets written. :/ There's no rules that say you can't prompt or write one of these rare pairings.
Ugh. This just takes the fun out of a a kink meme. I hate the idea of this being all structured and formal. You request a kink, you get a fill, and that should be the end of it.
I'm with you. Having writing 'themes' is not fun at all. I understand that some pairings are less popular than others, but that's just how it goes. Enforcing an equality like this... even for the one week...
I like being a part of this community because its so open. I like spending however long it takes to read through my inbox and follow along with the community DAILY. Even for one week, that's still seven days I gotta find something else to do until its over.
I've done theme weeks before, they suck. And not the good kind.
I really don't like the idea of 'enforcement'. I am completely fine if we choose to do events and focus on a certain pairing/type of work etc. PROVIDED it is not a "for this time, you are only allowed to do this" kind of scenario.
having a theme and cheerleading for it is all well and good since I do very much agree that certain areas need more love. ENFORCEMENT, however, kills the joy IMO.
