Hey, lady. Sad to see you feeling low. To a lesser extent, I know how you feel.

In middle and high school, I was part of a band for seven years. I mean like, symphonic and marching band, not in a cool rock band/acappella group like you. ;) We were really good, too, one of the best in the state. Our instructor had something like a 33-year streak of straight superiors at every district competition. It never happened while I was there, but the band even travelled out of state a couple times to compete further.

We had a sweet rep, man, for both our symphonic and marching bands, and the crowd loved us. That feeling of performing in front of the crowd on Friday nights, with the kick-ass drumline and all of the screaming and anticipation....especially when we broke it down with our dance routine...just being so sweaty and exuberant and high afterwards, being a part of something bigger, with friends and music and good times swirling around me...I don't have anything like that in my life right now, that kind of unity, that kind of musical ( ... )

wow, philo, that almost made me cry, seriously, you know just how i feel. to this day, i remember the very first time i heard harmony in chorus, in 7th grade. i remember the goosebumps i had listening to this sound that we had created. i still get goosebumps when i hear tight harmony...it's the most amazing feeling.

yes! did you get "post-performance high"? always, after a concert i'd be on such a high...it's the same way with the high school theatre i did. i still miss the cameraderie of those days.

and i do have some mp3s of me singing...there's 2 cds wih me on them, but i haven't uploaded them yet. i have a cool little snippet on my computer now that i can send you, though...if you promise not to laugh.

I don't even sing, and I get goosebumps when I hear tight harmony, too. Hanson has done that for me a couple times, and I've haven't even seen them live. Have you heard of Sweet Honey in the Rock? They're performing in downtown St. Pete, and my college is giving out free tix to the students. I'm thinkin' about goin'....

Hell yes. With marching band, it was like an all-night high that kept going for like another hour and half even after I got home and it was near midnight and I'd been up since 5 a.m. And then the exhaustion would hit, and I'd pass out hard. Sometimes right on the carpet, in the nasty clothes I'd worn under my uniform. Lol ( ... )
