I am jealous about the France trip! Though I am smart phone-addicted and could not go to DC, let alone Europe, without the internet in my pocket. *g* You are way more organized in terms of house stuff than we are!
Heh, I quite deliberately do NOT want to become smart phone addicted; I am probably going to replace my phone in the next week or two but it will again be a non-smart phone. We do pay-as-you-go, so no data plan, to save $$ mostly (and it does, quite a bit).
I don't FEEL that organized! We talk about stuff but don't always get it done... I STILL have not finished painting the trim in the upstairs room, which has been waiting for nearly 2 years now...
Did you not find ANY springform pans, or just no 8" ones? I would imagine that a 9" one would do just fine, honestly - the finished product will just be a little thinner.
I couldn't find any 8" ones. Found 6", 9", and 10". But SO called up a specialty kitchen shop and they had an 8", so he went out and bought that. We'd decided that if they didn't have one we would just get a 9" and reduce baking time a bit. The lemon cake was very good, incidentally, but it does have whole wheat pastry flour so sadly not one you could have, I guess.
I leave on Friday July 19. SO leaves on the 10th, IIRC; he is going to Massachusetts first to visit his mom. Then I come back late late late on Saturday August 3. So just over 2 weeks altogether.
Thanks, but it would probably cost as much in postage as it would for me to buy a second adapter, so no worries about that.
And thanks - I've never been to France before, so it should be fun! (Spain, the UK, the Netherlands, and Sweden are the European countries I've been to, for varying lengths of time.)
How lovely that the house repairs continue apace and that you and your SO are getting away for a bit together. If France is similar in temperature to England this year, pack some warm clothes.
I've checked the Weather Channel page for the town we'll be in most of the time, and it's looking like highs in the low 80s, lows in the upper 50s. Definitely will be good to bring a cardigan or two and a jacket, but shorts may also be in order. At least summer clothes don't take up as much room in the suitcase as winter ones!
