A Friday fannish participation poll

Feb 12, 2010 12:06

This is largely because I got to thinking about how long I'd been active in fandom, how it happened I started writing fic, and so forth, and wondered about other people's experiences. Hence, a multi-fandom poll! Feel free to add anything that you'd like about your fannish experiences in the comments, and I'd love it if anyone wants to link/pimp ( Read more... )

I tend to stick to fandoms for a long time. I've been active in Star Trek, Original Series, for over 25 years, and Harry Potter for the last 8 years. I also have been active in Due South for at least 7 years. Now I also download webisodes of favorite fandoms, too.

As fleurdeliser said, going to concerts is a huge part of our fandom. They're like mini-conventions. :)

I think maybe I'd better edit the post to say, bandom folks please tick the convention box as the closest thing to concerts! *goes to edit*

I started writing Roswell fic in 2000, dabbled a little in Dawson's Creek (shaddap) and then entered HP in 2001. I am only marginally active there these days, but I've still got a finger in it. I'm sporaidically reading ST:Reboot, LotR and PotC, so I suppose you could say I'm active in them, but I don't FEEL as active as I think about my involvement with HP in the past.

*nods* That's why I felt having each person define for hirself what constituted "active" made the most sense; this isn't meant to be a scientific survey after all, and for someone w/o a lot of spare time, even reading a couple of stories a week could be as active as they can possibly be, so that ought to count (IMO).
