Coop is getting a lot of action today, isn't he? ;) This is my favorite take so far; okay, I had a sneak preview, but this is more the way I see the character, and that makes me happy fanfic-wise.
He is isn't he? *g*. Thank you! I really can't express enough gratitude for the beta. I'm kind of betaphobic(as in really a fear of the beta experience-not that I don't like them), and you made it a really pleasant experience.
I'm so glad! I've never betaed for someone I don't know well before. I edit and write all the time professionally, but betaing is a totally different relationship!
BTW, I think the addition about Charlie was very good. It was enough, not too much. Looking forward to the whole story.
This was so good. I haven't read any David-centered fic before, but now I'm going to make a point to seek it out. My favorite passage in the whole fic was:
"I didn't want to disturb you."
"What disturbs me is this defiled virgin act you pull after."
Egads--"defiled virgin act"--I laughed so hard that I scared my dog.! LOL.
but kissing Coop was like defusing bombs
A metaphor that fits the character perfectly! Excellent tie-in to the train episode, that reference to David's experience in Tel Aviv. Excuse me while I bow down and chant "We're not worthy!" *g*

I love the game/goal metaphor. I can relate to it in my own life all too well. I like that it was Charlie who gave him that insight.
BTW, Charlie's reaction to the kiss? O-M-G, now I can't wait to read the companion Don/Charlie fic you're writing. *veg*

Also, I'm glad the metaphor worked for you. I'm probably just the opposite. I'm enjoying the game too much to concentrate on any goals alas!

I liked this!!! It isn't a pairing that jumps out at you, but it really works.
(I also can't wait to read the D/C companion piece. *g*)

I definitely think this story stands well on its own, and I'm glad I wasn't misreading the Don/Charlie hints.
