You know, you could get a part-time bilingual job in customer service starting at $20/hour and work 20 hours a week (essentially, two 10 hours shifts) and make a neat $1600/month (that's $20800/year) to get you by while you get your career off the ground.

IBM is hiring.

So is Telus.

Dude, i feel your pain.

I'd hire you in a minute, but that whole, um, magical fairy thing, yeah, she's not down here either.

That IBM or Telus work sound like it could be ok. Admin work, yes, it can suck you dry in some ways (this is my life) and yet, you may find a way to make ti work. The last one I had allowed me the time to leave and take care of things, so some places it can work.

The schedule juggling is hard. Have you thought abut running your own classes? You might be able to put together a proposal for a local arts centre as adult education or something like that (or teacher education - teachers at the high school and junior high level often complain about the dearth of contemporary art information available to them - contemporary as in now, this moment, as opposed to 1985).

Have you Read "difference and Excess in Contemporary Art" ? I picked it up last ngiht, it looks awesome. Starts off with an essay about Rachel Whiteread's House and the social implications of it, the demolition vote, etc.

Toronto star bilingual, in-bound call centre marketing (people that speak to customers about large account ads, not classified); starts at $21.50+/hour, not piecework. My brother used to work there when he was teaching at the Island flight school, it's strictly part-time because the full-timers make a lot more and get benefits.
