Apparently American tenor Jerry Hadley tried to commit suicide two nights ago in his upstate New York ago by shooting himself in the head with an air rifle. He was flown to St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, where CAT scans and X-rays showed extensive brain injuries.

He is currently on life support and is not expected to recover.

Wow.

Andrew and I spent most of yesterday doing funeral-related things. We arrived at the funeral home around 8:45 in the morning. I thought everything would go smoothly until I entered the room where the casket was, and saw people crying. Uncle Al's funeral is tomorrow. Apparently I'm not cantoring the Mass, which I see as a good thing since I'll be able to sit with the family, but I am singing an Ave Maria or something else appropriate. There will be quite a long drive to the cemetery, followed by a luncheon ( Read more... )
