My latest project: book trailer for Harold the King

Jan 06, 2011 10:40

Today my latest book trailer was unveiled. I  created it for UK author Helen Hollick who wanted it released January 6, 2011 to coincide with the 945th anniversary of the coronation of Harold II (Harold Godwinsson, King of England). I created the video with ProShow Producer and the score is an original composition by Bronwen Harrison written for the ( Read more... )

I for one would miss it, but I do realise that I am one very small voice!

I only have 9 members on the LJ community which you are not one of them :( Whereas I have 86 followers on Facebook. So I do get the majority of interaction and feedback for Avalon Graphics via Fbook. I am trying to streamline my daily workload, so one less account to manage would help me out. LOL

Were you still interested in having me design some covers for you? I haven't forgotten you, just been busy in recent months.

*hugs*

I would! I do want!

And ah, I understand, I didn't realise it was also an LJ acc. You see, I am a non-Facebook person (and am beginning to think for various reasons I should become one!)

*flaily hands*

Are you on IM so we can chat?

I wish that I could chat, mate, but I am under pressure to get quite a bit of website work done. And I cannot chat and work *laughs* I rarely have the time for IM these days *sighs*

Just keep me posted via email when you are closer to needing a cover design and I'll schedule it in my work load.

Facebook has its advantages as I've done quite a bit of networking for my design business. You could promote your own writing via Fbook!

I do watch it and I have made few comments myself but I understand that there may be lack of comments over there since as you said majority of people do use facebook nowadays for personal and promotional pages.
I also know that you have to re-arrange your spare time and make the best of it. So having one thing less to worry about maybe the best thing. As you stated you prefer live journal over facebook it is ungrateful choice, but on the matter of subject consider what is watched the most.
I'll be following either or both.

I do still prefer LJ and will never quit updating this personal journal. But as far as promoting my work - Facebook seems the best way as people really do comment there (including you!!!) whereas I get very limited interaction here. I really appreciate your constant and long time support, my dear friend ♥

You are welcome. I did thought about the Avalon Graphics page at LJ to be revised not the personal one of course. I maybe wasn't clear in stating that. Sorry. I started mine lj just to be in touch with my sister who is avid supporter of lj over facebook. She was far more knowledgeable than me in html and css codes so I was reluctant to start it, but she made an effort for me and set up the look on my lj. I use facebook more, since that is where my friends and family spend more time. And beside it's easier to just upload the pic than hassle with the codes. I got a couple of books on web design (html & css) but unfortunately I have to be shown the process on how it is done, I am more of a visual person, and my sister is not able to help me since she lives in another town. I would love to do a wed design and hopefully I will learn, it is a damn shame there are no free classes here since I can't afford it.

Oh I knew what you meant! No worries *laughs* I have been on LJ for ages and it is still where I post all my very personal thoughts - tis rare I leave an entry open to all. *laughs* I use Facebook for mostly only business and networking and it seems to be well suited for that. But you are right in saying that it is much easier to upload images and share links there. LJ is more code intensive for sure. That is the other reason I question keeping the Avalon Graphics LJ community - it takes more work to update it and since I have only 9 followers there...not sure its worth it.

I'm also a very visual person - so I completely understand you! I'm struggling with HTML today as I work on website jobs *groans* I'd much rather be doing book covers! LOL

What a cool video!

Back in about 1972, an old friend moved away and gave me a bunch of old books - among which was one called "Harold, the Last of the Saxon Kings. I never read it. Now I wonder if it's still at the home of my ex-husband where all my book collection (among other things) stays. I'm very curious, thanks to your video.

There have been several novels written about Harold - I've only read Helen's 'Harold the King' and thoroughly enjoyed it. I found Harold very compelling, likable and he reminded me of my beloved King Arthur *laughs* If you can find your old book, I think you'd find his life story quite interesting! I know that I learned a lot about that time in England's history by reading Helen's books.

And thanks for the compliment on the vid!

You know I love ALL your stuff, but I'm worried you're overworking yourself. Please take a little time, to munch some chocolate? <3

Thanks honey *snuggles* I am thoroughly tired and stressed. I am going to try like Hell to take most of tomorrow off though. It might kill me today *laughs* but hopefully it will work out.

A chocolate break sounds sinfully good! *g*

Much love!

Gorgeous work, sweetheart. I love this one; I still think the Pirate one is my fave, but I love the editing on this and the sepia tone. The pictures you chose fit perfectly with the music and everything is spot on. Genius, you. *snuggles*

I think the facebook and twitter account are probably more important for the business...just my two cents. ;)

And as Nat said, please take care of yourself. I truly hope you get to have tomorrow off, honey. Or at least some of it! Let Arfa distract you.

xxoo Much love and I am so proud of the work you do.

Thank you honey ♥ Each video that I complete gets a bit more polished, but that is how it should be right? *laughs* Now Helen would like FQ re-done...so I have that on my list. LOL

Yeah...I don't see much point in posting in a community with only 9 members.

I am very tired. But I am trying to find the time for rest. I also read your email, thank you for all that. I will write when I am more coherent. *laughs*

Love you very much and would never have come this far without your love and support. *snuggles*

I agree with Ash on this, Cat. Today businesses really look at Twitter and FB (as much as I hate them too!) as networking tools, etc.

This video is definitely different than the others. Definitely has a different "feel" to it, but I like it! It only makes sense that the more vids you make the better at it you'll get. Practice makes perfect! : )

And yes you need to take time to have some choccy! Ya Can't work *all* the time...... ; )

Thanks for your thoughts on the social accounts. I think I shall do just that and stop updating the LJ account for Avalon Graphics.

So glad you liked the latest video too! I really am quite happy with it. And hopefully each one that I do will indeed be better than the last.

Been gone all day today...so still tired *laughs* But hopefully tomorrow I can relax.

Loves!
