I liked this a lot. The comparing of scars works on so many levels, especially with all the emotional baggage between these two. And Sarah's candor is especially poignant because as you have her so aptly state, if she doesn't want to talk about something, she won't. I love it how answering direct questions can be a form of reaching out for someone as closed off as she is.

Lovely piece.

Emotional baggage for the win. I really enjoy writing a smidge of candor, but GAWD it's like pulling teeth with Sarah. I always get the feeling that she really wants to talk, but is so closed down by default. Thus the booze was a calculated move >.> . Glad you feel that way about the direct questions part too; I know when I'm shutting down, I hate broad questions, and very specific ones are just such a good jumping off point. They're easier to answer and help get ball rolling, yeah?

Thanks muchly Indie. :D

this is frankly awesome! I've always loved Sarah and Charley's complicated relationship, and I think I'd read any number of stories you might have about those plot bunnies.

Thanks so much for the comment. Good to know there's all the more Charley love out there, and I think those bunnies have the potential to be funny as hell with Sarah trying to reintegrate into normal life. XD

Sarah back-story + scar-swapping tales = pure win :-)

“But considering it means ‘little sister,’ that would make an awful lot between us very wrong.”

*LOL* Nice one.

According to the official blog there was a scene shot for To the Lighthouse with Sarah in the shower examining all her scars - recent and non-recent and then finding the lump in her breast. Don't know if you read about it, but this story fits into that perfectly.

Please continue to play whack-a-mole...

Hee hee, thanks. Glad that one worked out cause I'm treading on thin ice myself with the Spanish. Try to mix in a few elements here and there though cause those years in the jungles are a ANOTHER damn plot bunny. *thwacks it down temporarily for the sake of her sleep cycle*

I did NOT know this. Obviously I need to actually read the official blog.

... wait, the show is on the bubble and they REMOVED a scene with Lena Headey scantily clad and/or naked? WTF mate.

XD

Oh I haven't a bloody clue about the Spanish, I just thought it was funny *g*

Yeah, I keep toying with that idea then thinking "you know nothing about the jungles of South America (or wherever the hell she was - see?!)... plus, no Derek!" John's birth story, that seems to be a tale worth telling, whichever of the two TSCC versions you may choose!

*LOL* WTF indeed. Bloody Idjits. Hopefully it'll be on the DVD. Course, I'd only be interested in it as an insight into Sarah's inner pain... *ahem*...

I felt the same way... then I remembered the magic of the interwebs. John in T2 and the SCC writers have said she was in Nicaragua for at least a little while, T1 took place in 1984, follow the bouncing ball of dates and locations through google and wikipedia, and that's how I got references to the Contras. XD See? The internet gives you the ability to bull shit your way through anything!

John's birth story, that seems to be a tale worth telling, whichever of the two TSCC versions you may choose!I got the feeling that both were meant to be serious and that Sarah wasn't lying to Kacy about anything more then Kyle, so I keep trying to find a way to reconcile the two since I think it was just a case of two writers not conferring closely enough. Maybe a medic from her camp was with her and did an emergency c-section in the back of that chicken truck when they realized they wouldn't make it to town ( ... )

That was so good! I loved Sarah and Charley

Hmm, it's odd that I actually like Sarah with Kyle, Charley, and potentially with Derek.

Anyhoo in regards to this: "Is anyone interested in the 6 months that these two were together that Charley mentioned to Ellison? Cause I’m playing whack-a-mole with plot bunnies about now"

I'd be totally interested in reading that. Would be looking forward to it if it happens

It really is odd, isn't it, how so many of the men in the series hold such potential when we think of Sarah. I think it hinges really heavily on the fact that they all bring out such different sides of her and as such all create a fascinating and unique dynamic.
- Kyle reveals Sarah's weakness while inspiring strength.
- Charley is the least damaged man she's dealt with and a genuine nice guy that'll do the right thing just because it's right which is a contrast to her more tarnished moral standing.
- Derek is... as messed up as her. As such, they are fun from our point of view in such an explosive manner. XD

Thanks much Schmacky. I still want a handful of your vids on my iPod. XD

Thanks for sharing the tender story of Sarah and Charlie comparing scars. I really enjoyed reading it, in my post-cancellation depression. I think that might be just the way they would recover their intimacy after Michelle's death.

Having said that (and being a one-or-two-drink guy), I think it's out of character for Sarah to allow herself to get drunk. In her world, getting too drunk to flee or fight, is just asking to get dead.

I would prefer to have her escape from her stress, into physical intimacy with Charlie, before settling into a natural sleep: the best night of sleep she's had in months.

Yeah, you're allowed to rag on me for getting Sarah shnookered, I kinda hemmed and hawed on it myself for awhile. I decided on it mostly because I was looking for some way to get her to be a bit less tight lipped cause I'm totally obsessed with the backstory stuff. And if she thinks she's gonna die anyway and was gonna ditch John with Charley so she'd no longer be a liability in the picture, what's one night being a bit fatalistic with a bottle? Yes? No? Mrah. Plus... I suck at writing pr0n XD. It's something I need practice at before messing up a couple this cute.

Either way, thanks for taking the time to comment :). We're all in the post cancellation depression together :(. *HUGS EVERY FAN IN REACH*
