When the stars come out

The talk went very well. I had people come up to me all throughout the conference to tell me how much they enjoyed my talk. Several of the other speakers said, "I'm sorry I don't have chocolates to give you. . ." and everyone would laugh. It was very interesting to see all the great projects that people were working on from medical programs and ( Read more... )

I knew your talk would go well. :)

And you play the guitar and sing? Ooooo...niiiice! You're such a talented woman in so many ways. I'm sure your kids are proud that you're their mom. Happy Mother's Day, too, by the way!

Well, I don't claim to play and sing well. I was once a summer camp counselor. I've learned about ten chords and a few licks and that's really all you need for the sort of situation I mentioned above. People say, "Do you know. .X" and I nearly always have to answer, "No, but here's a song a DO know" and off I go, no one bothered.

Happy mother's day to you, too.

My kids forgot. I had mentioned it to them and my mom had mentioned it to them and they just forgot. It's OK, really. I know they love me with or without Mother's day.

I hope you found a way to have a Happy mother's day to you, too!

Sounds like a great success! I'll bet some of the other people who gave talks will be throwing out chocolates in future! :)

"Why does OUR mom have to be the popular one?"

That's a perfect glimpse into the mind of a teenager! LOL

I miss the days when friends would gather a cooler of beer would appear and the guitars would come out. Those were the days.

I've taught the older two and am teaching my youngest to play different instruments so they can hopefully have similar good times.

My wife hates my guitars and music in general. That's why we don't get them out as often now. Odd that she has gotten that way. She loved me playing for her years ago.

She hates it? That is strange. But you know what I mean -- it's a way to access any society because it's human nature to sit around, shoot the breeze, sing along, and have a drop or two. It's instantly recognizable as non-threatening behavior.
