Happy Tag

For the past two years, a friend has sent me a potted amaryllis bulb as a Christmas present. The one she sent me in December is getting ready to bloom now. So basically, Christmas in March, lol.

You can see the stalk and bud in the middle pot on the right.

The big plant is a ponytail palm. I've had it for at least 15 years!

Yeah, that plant is an old gal, lol! Aww, thanks. :) Here's what it looked like back in 2014. The leaves still trail on the ground now, but it's not quite as lush as it was before.

Yes, she is. ;)

She was in a much smaller pot back then. Had to repot, because she's was bursting out of it.

Very cool!

My sister in law got me a gorgeous orchod plant for my birthday 2 years ago. It quickly lost all of its blooms. Since then it is a plant with huge leaves. Until about a month ago, it started getting stems coming out again! There are 5 or 6 of them, and they are rapidly growing. I hope in a month or so I get new orchid flowers.

Thanks so much!♥

I had the same thing happen to me. The blooms didn't last very long. How amazing that your orchid plant is sending out stems after two years of waiting! Hopefully you'll have lovely flowers from it soon.

About 15 years ago I had a stunning mauve amaryllis, I hand fertilized its flowers, and started new plants from the seeds. When the new bulbs were the size of yogurt containers, I gave them to the members of my garden club. Many, including my parent plant, are still going strong. This isn't my amaryllis, but this is the color of mine.

I love pony tail palms and have had several over the years, but I can't keep them because my cats can't resist those long, trailing leaves.

That's a wonderful story about your mauve amaryllis, and it's awesome that the original plant and bulbs from its seeds are still still doing so well. The pictured amaryllis has such a pretty color.

Yes, those long leaves would be very attractive to a cat.
