If Vivien is in the common room later, she'll find Damien, having some tea and reading a medical text book. He is a doctor, and would be glad to help with any of her problems - any problems that he can, anyway.

"Well, I suppose after what happened, I could use a second opinion," she says, laying back down again. She can't help being pleased at having two handsome doctors examining her, but there's something a bit off-putting about the newcomer.

"I don't mean to intrude: but considering that there may be forces greater than nature at work in this place, it helps to be sure your children are all right," he says, coming to her side and checking the fetal monitor.

Damien stands back, letting the other doctor examine the monitor as he keeps the patient company.

"Aye, a second opinion never hurt anyone, and as I'm rather new with these machines it's like to be a good idea."

He smiled.

"I'm catching up on all the new technology, but we didn't have it so much in 1922."

"I'd say you're adapting well: you clearly have a mind and heart open to new things," Muraki says, rummaging in a drawer and taking out a stethoscope, inserting the earpieces into his own ears warming the pad of it in his hand before gently applying it to Vivien's belly and taking out his pocket watch, timing the tiny heartbeats.

"You're both doing a good job: I guess the house is looking out for us all," Vivien says, smiling at Damien reassuringly.

Damien looks at Muraki, very much wanting to see if their opinions on the state of the children are in sync. He hadn't mentioned it to Vivien, but there was...something...different, he thought, but yet he couldn't put a finger on it. It could have even been the newness of the technology to him - no way to tell for sure until he has a chance to consult with Dr. Muraki.

"A doctor's a doctor, no matter where or when," Damien says with a shrug.

"My grandfather said something similar," he says. "He always told me to bear in mind that physicians are the servants of their patients." He pauses, moving the stethoscope to Vivien's other side. "Hm... One heartbeat is slower than the other, but I'm not detecting any anomalies," he says. "You're expecting a son and a daughter, Mrs. Harmon."

"You're sure?" she says, looking from Muraki to Damien, her breath catching with happiness.

Muraki's chatter has been a cover for something else: his extra awareness is twigged to something about the male twin, something not wholly normal, but not a medical abnormality...

"Ah, a boy and a girl, what a blessing," Damien smiles, silently glancing at Muraki and trying to figure out what's 'off' about his attitude.

"She'll be well, then?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "And the wee ones too? They sounded grand to me, but I've not had the chance to use such technology before."

"With plenty of healthy food and proper rest, mother and children should stay healthy and strong," Muraki declares.

"That's a relief," Vivien says sitting up. "I had a stillbirth over a year ago; I'm fine, but after something like that, I just want to make sure my babies are all right." She gets a bit teary-eyed, and her smile is tight with pain memory, but she's holding strong.

Damien takes Vivien's hand and squeezes it, knowing that there's nothing he can do to ease that pain, but letting her know he was here nonetheless.

"We'll do everything we can for you, Ma'am," he says confidently. "And your wee babes look good for the moment. So there's nothing to worry about."

He glances over at Muraki, knowing there's something he's not telling, but not going to bring it up until Vivien leaves.

She'll take Damien's hand in both hands, gratefully, as she sits up. "Thanks, both of you. I think I'm gonna take a rest upstairs, if you think I should," she says.

"Napping when you feel the need is perfectly in order: don't think that we'd recommend total bed rest, unless you show signs that there are complications," Muraki replies, looking to Damien.

Damien nods.

"No, just when ye feel tired. Do you think you'll be able to get upstairs alright?"

He kind of wants to stay and talk to Muraki.

"Oh, yeah, I'm finding my way around the house pretty good now," she says, dropping her feet to the floor and slipping off the table. "Thank you, Doctors: I'm glad to have the both of you looking after me and my twins."

"Don't hesitate to call on us, should the need arise," Muraki says, bowing to her.

"It is my pleasure. Perhaps come back in a week or thereabouts so that we can check you out again, make sure there are no residual affects from your arrival here?"

He smiles, and when she's gone, turns to Muraki.

"Did you see anything strange that I didn't? Aye, but I'm afraid these machines are a bit strange to me."
