Vivien leans back against the back seat of the police car, feeling defeated and yet relieved. This would get her away from the house, if the problem was the house. And if the problem was all in her head, she would be getting the help that she needed, the help that Ben could not give her, not that she wanted it from him, after what he had done.
But the thought pricks in her head like that proverbial splinter in one's mind. What if she wasn't going crazy? What would happen to Violet in that horrible house? Would those specters harm her? What about that rubber-clad entity that had attacked her? Would it go after Violet?
She pushes these thoughts away: she must be going mad to think things like this. Letting herself relax into the corner of the back seat, she closes her eyes, shutting everything out to let her mind go empty for a moment.
She opens her eyes, finding herself sitting on a comfortable couch in a large room: the furniture around her has a vaguely antique look, used but not battered, like the kind of settings one would find in one's grandmother's home. If this was the reception room for the mental hospital, it looked like the homiest place imaginable. She stands, pulling her coat closer about herself, trying to hide the fact that she was still wearing a bathrobe and a black silk nightie, and lets herself roam about the room.
"Hello? Is there a doctor around to take care of my intake?" she calls, curious, perhaps a bit wary...
