Will is heading back to the Mansion after practising archery out in the woods (gotta keep those skills sharp). When he notices Brienne, he stops. It appears there's somebody ~in distress~, and he heads over, ready to offer whatever assistance is necessary.

"Are you all right?" He asks as he approaches.

Brienne shakes her head, and looks around. "-- the place does look peaceful..."

"It hasn't known any trouble, so far as I know," Will replies.

There is the evil being of evilness, but Will's not going to mention that.

"-- I don't understand. Why am I here?"

It just -- makes absolutely no sense.

That is not an easy question to answer.

"Nobody actually knows. There are lots of people stuck here, from different places. They all got sucked in, I suppose, but nobody knows how." He pauses. "If that makes any sense."

Brienne frowns. "--- not really, if truth be told."

Will, grats, you have her trust. (He's actually the only one with Robb, and maybe Sandor to have it.)

"Well," Will starts again, pausing for a moment to consider what to say next. "Nobody knows how people end up here -- they just do." Which he realises probably isn't terribly helpful, so he continues. "What I mean is, people just appear here, from lots of different places, with no idea how they got here. Nobody really knows how people get here."

He hopes that makes more sense. Will is not always the best at explaining things, and it doesn't help when you don't properly understand what you're trying to explain.

"So you don't know," she replies unhelpfully. A beat, and she asks carefully, "-- did you -- "

Die?

"Nobody knows," Will says, because it's not just him that doesn't know, okay? "Did I what?"

She nibbles at her lip. "-- I -- thought this might be the afterlife."

"There are some people here who died." There's only one that he knows of, but he figures there are probably more. Like Brienne, he suspects, judging by her question and the state of her neck. "I never did," he adds, trying not to sound uncomfortable. It disturbs him a little that there are dead people here.

-- "Never?"

Because -- she's not sure, she -- never felt herself giving up the spirit, she --

Brienne reaches for her neck -- "-- I -- do I seem alive to you?" This is confusing.

"There isn't any way to tell. The dead people here look just like everybody else." It feels really weird saying that. "If you didn't know they had died, you wouldn't guess."

He does think Brienne might have died, but he doesn't want to say that.

"-- I have seen the walking dead before. They do not -- behave as you do."

Shudder.
