Will is heading back to the Mansion after practising archery out in the woods (gotta keep those skills sharp). When he notices Brienne, he stops. It appears there's somebody ~in distress~, and he heads over, ready to offer whatever assistance is necessary.

"Are you all right?" He asks as he approaches.

Will's smile is still there, and he shakes his head a bit. "Not a town. There's a mansion."

"A mansion? Do you mean a keep?" What the what?

Will shakes his head. "It's not a castle, or anything built with defense in mind. It's just a very big house."

[homely_sonja]

Her face goes a bit blank. "-- who owns it?"

[caniaskyouaqstn]

"Nobody owns it," Will replies. "Which sounds strange, I know. But it's still orderly and well kept."

[homely_sonja]

"Are there no servants to keep it? They would speak of their master, wouldn't they?"

Will shakes his head again. "There are no servants," he replies. He understands how weird this must seem, this bit confused him too. "And like I said, nobody owns the house."

... Brienne stares at him, blinks, then seems to make a decision. She grips the pommel of her sword and nods. "Take me there, then, if you please."

She's expecting some home, taken over by vagrants.

"It's this way," Will says. He turns and starts heading towards the Mansion.

Brienne follows, still wary, and not particularly comfortable with the situation.

When they come into view of the Mansion, Will pauses and turns to look at Brienne.

"That's it," he says.

[homely_sonja]

Brienne looks at the Mansion and is a bit confused. "-- that is -- where are the fortifications?"

What gives?

Will smiles a little and shakes his head. He can remember thinking exactly the same thing when he first arrived.

"There are none," he replies. "Whoever built it clearly didn't expect to have to defend it."

Brienne stares at it in utter disbelief. "-- what folly is that?"

She can't imagine living in a world where you don't have to defend your life.

Or rather, she can. But it was a really long time ago.

Will shrugs a bit. "They must not have expected to encounter any danger here."

Which wasn't very clever of them, he thinks, since there's apparently some evil being of darkness nearby.
