[Crackplot] Elves in the woods!

Jul 14, 2010 18:33

The woods are calm this day. It's not yet high noon, and there are birds singing quietly in the trees above.

To any who do not know the secret drama behind the curtain of leaves, it is an idyllic scene in a perfect world - fresh and peaceful.

Oh, but if you knew.

Hiding somewhere in the green is Carnistir Moryofinwë, the fifth son of Fëanor, murderer ( Read more... )

So... here's someone who considers himself a friend of the Elves -- or at least two or three of them -- even though some of them would shun him as a "servant of Mandos", a moniker that really irks him especially now that he knows the history. Right now, he's snoozing under a tree, looking like no more than a slightly rumpled human at rest. He's fairly easy to stumble on. Literally.

Here is an elven king, who is looking very seriously for his missing sons - he started around his forge, and is now prowling the grounds.

He may or may not be accompanied by some of his progeny - at any rate, the irate smith can be stumbled on in his focused search.

At some point, Armand hears footfalls, cautious ones at that. He peers around a tree to see who it is, and is shocked to see that it's Feanor. Of course, it would be. That's his luck.

He puts a hand to his mouth and considers just backing away as quietly as possible, but when he turns the unfamiliar bow catches against the branches, making a very distinct sound. He suppresses a moan, and turns back to face the elf, who has undoubtedly heard him by now.

"This is not a time to be queasy," he tells himself in English.

[As discussed, for a little while. Slow is fine.]

Feanor does not like this at all, and he wheels on himself, ready to draw steal, but stops his motion the moment he sees Armand.

Silly Atan.

"Is that the quietest you can do, Atan?" His tone bears impatience. This is not how they will be catching the prodigal sons, damn it.

Armand bites his tongue. Don't snap at Feanor, he has to remind himself. Armand adjusts the way the bow falls against his back and stands tall, trying to pretend he's not more terrified of the elf in front of him than whatever else lurks in the woods. "I'm not used to this, my lord, and you startled me."

Galadriel is not in the woods - she's out by the pond, reading in the leaves and listening to the winds.

Aredhel asked her - she sighed and went. She believes that she is most likely the last person that Maedhros, Maglor and Caranthir want to see - and as she is not to tread the woods alone, instead, she is looking in her own way, trying to communicate with nature, find tracks and possible hints.

So far, it's not working very well.

And here's someone who's fairly good at tracking things, given his skills as a sort of homicide detective for the afterlife, though right now, he's resting beside the pond, watching the clouds and trying to put aside the odd feelings of homesickness that have crept into his heart. As he shifts onto his elbows, he spots Galadriel nearby. "Hey, hello there, Galadriel," he says, softly, not wanting to disturb her too much.

Galadriel holds out a hand - she seems to be listening to something. A bit later, she shakes her head, as if she'd given up.

"-- Good day, Tsuzuki," she replies, and gives him a smile. "Have you been well?"

"I've been up and down, but mostly up," he says with a smile, hiding the concern and loneliness that have been filling his mind and heart. "How have you been?"

Aredhel said she would look - so here she is, in hunting gear and perhaps with a hunting partner picked upon her relatives, or perhaps she got separated from the search party at one point or another. Her daughters are with one of the kind people who agreed to watch over them.

She's focused and seriously looking at the trails - she wants to find her missing cousins, and sooner rather than later.

Maeglin will be close by her shoulder, almost hovering, and with an eagerness of his own. He doesn't want someone else to find Caranthir before he - they do. He wants it to be him, so just in case there's something that needs to be said, or -

He's not sure why, really, it just seems important. "I think it's this way," he says, looking away from the tracks, and toward the woods. "I just have a feeling."

Aredhel pauses in her examination of the soil, of the branches - she's looking for any evidence of recent passage, though with all the activity in the forest... it's hard to tell who's walking where.

"-- lead the way, then," she replies quietly.

He takes a step closer to her. "It's just a guess," he amends, quickly. "Based on - just a guess."

He also doesn't want to stay still too long and run into other family members, oh the horror.

Armand is dressed as best as he can for a hunt, not particularly his normal dress or even very elvish, save that his hair is braided and he's carrying a bow in addition to his knives. He started off in a group and strayed a bit. He's not very tall to see over vegetation or have the sharp hearing or other senses of some.

He may or may not have already run into Feanor and run off again. He's just following a trail he thinks he sees, probably an animal track, knowing him, and listening for the voices of his friends and sort-of family. He's hoping especially to be found by Lucivar or Ambarussa. They understand him best.

Lucivar has been asked for and has belatedly appeared. He doesn't know what's going on, but he saw movement and landed where he thought he spied a certain familiar relative, folding his wings a few feet away from where Armand is standing, if there's room between the trees for him to land there. "Are you looking for something, Armand?"

Armand's expression is pure relief at being found. "In general, Lucivar or just this moment?" he asks.

"Right this moment, I suppose," he says, though he blinks a little at the question. "Though I suppose if you were generally looking for something I'd be curious about that, too."
