[open] find it kind of funny, find it kind of sad

Fingon's relatively stable life seems to have been suddenly thrown into wild upheaval, and not the kind of upheaval he tends to sort of enjoy - the kind with bravery and heroics and possibly life threatening situations, that is - but rather the kind he just plain doesn't like, with inconvenient uncles attempting to usurp his place (it is his, ( Read more... )

It might have been a while since they talked, with all that's been going on, but when Galadriel spots Fingon, she'll come and sit next to him in complete silence.

She worries - about him, about the remainder of the family, but mostly, she just misses him.

"I never thought a sword could be so fascinating," she'll offer, softly.

He smiles, though, looking up when he sees her. Because even if he is preoccupied and concerned, that still doesn't take precedence over more important things.

"Artanis," he says, and inclines his head, at least trying to be formal - though he's missed her, only not been certain if she's busy or somewhat. "---not fascinating, I don't think. Only - something to look at while I'm thinking."

She examines him, a touch worriedly. "It is an ill omen to ponder while staring at steal, Muniarato - will you speak with me, or should I leave you to it?"

She's worried too - and concerned, and she missed him.

She probably just got in from being out - fetching Elrond or tending to the greenhouse, perhaps.

"I would sooner talk to you." He shakes his head, slightly. "It seems that many things are ill omened, of late - never mind it. Stay with me, melinya."

Reassured by Maglor and Nerdanel, Aredhel has been a bit more bold about going out - and this might be why there is a sister, with babies, mind you, huddled against her in an intricate scarf, who comes to see him. The girls are heavy, and she sits nearby.

"Kano?"

Nieces! Even if he is still peeved at their father by proxy - nieces, still. And sister. If she's close enough, he will lean over and kiss her cheek, with a touch of a closed-lip smile. But that's just his usual smile. "Sister - I'm pleased to see you out. Does that mean the danger is lessened?"

All the same, he's glad to be where he can keep an eye on her. Can never be too sure, you know.

She'll accept the kiss and return it - babies will make little noises, but they're not so fussy today.

"I feel better since Aunt Nerdanel came," she replies. "She has seen the babes, and given Turco and I her blessing."

He blinks a little, slightly surprised, evidently. "--she came? --well. That may be - hopeful." A pause. "I'm glad that you're feeling - more comfortable."

He might not be, though. Of course, Fingon would worry no matter what anyone said to soothe him.

Here's an annoying cousin, then! One who hasn't seen Maitimo yet - but has seen Maglor.

And he'll be observing the sparring with an amused smirk. He always thought there wasn't enough fury in Fingon's style.

Well, he won't get to observe for long. Fingon stops dead and turns to look at Caranthir, expression unamused again. And half expecting some crude jest, because Caranthir never quite seems able to resist those. "What do you want now?"

Caranthir? Still looks amused.

"If you're looking to terrify anyone with that," he informs Fingon cockily. "I'd point out a few flaws in your technique."

He might be inviting a spar, indirectly. Or a fistfight, which ever happens first. :D

"I'm practicing," irritably, "Not attempting to kill someone." Unlike you, snark snark snark. "I don't feel the need to be excessively earnest in simple routines."

Here is another cousin, possibly the most annoying of the bunch, who is just making his way through the main room to get outside. He will stop as soon as he sees Fingon, though.

"Findekano. Hello."

Don't be mistaken, there is very little cordiality in that tone.

Oh, look. His hands stop. And his eyes narrow. Speaking of inconvenient cousins.

"Makalaure." Coldly, and that tone of voice should communicate the depths of his...displeasure. "I was not aware that you had arrived."

(Not quite the worst, though it's close between you and Cleeg, Mags. Only because Cleeg is snogging a beloved sister.)

"As you can see. It took long enough."

He folds his arms and regards the cousin coolly, not intending to move anytime soon.

Not long enough, he could think. Rather just Mae were here. He probably wouldn't like that, though. Urgh. "--well? Was there something in particular you wished to speak about?"

Or can I light into you about the whole LETTING YOUR BROTHER FALL INTO A FIERY CHASM thing?
