[Open] I'm not alive. I'm not dead. I'm just...

Boyle has been keeping to himself as much as possible since he's arrival here. Sticking to only going out at night and more or less haunting the less populated places of the Mansion. Old habits are hard to break after all and he's still not quite used to not being seen as less than dirt by the livebloods ( Read more... )

So here's a kid who actually isn't that much of a horror fan, and personally thinks zombie movies are dull, but we digress. He's busy reading a interesting historical fiction novel until he suddenly looks up and sees Boyle.

Now he's just tense because it's an actual zombie. And he's wondering if he should run or scream or what.

Boyle turns, book open in his hands, and glances up at the feeling of being watched. He frowns, muscles working only on the unruined side of his face, and he quickly turns his back.

"Excuse me. Remember it's a library though, so please don't scream."

Cal is still very creeped out though.

"Are you thinking of eating me?"

He thinks about that statement for a while, that sounds stupid.

Boyle manages to not sigh and only shakes his head. The boy could be Ashby's age, but alive. And clearly a bit quicker.

"No. I'm not going to eat you or anybody." A bit of a joke before he can stop himself. "I'm on a diet."

Here's someone who isn't going to run from him, by any means.

When she comes upon Boyle, possibly in the library, or wherever else, she'll say, "Hey, s'been a while, hasn't it?"

She won't hug him or whatever because the undead does freak her out mildly, but she's close enough that the chak can feel befriended, if that makes any sense.

I would assume they chatted offscreen on occasion? Anita said she'd be keeping tabs, and she is a woman of her word....

Perhaps it's a moment while he's outside for a change? Near the library though. It's a favorite spot.

Boyle appreciates even the little gestures and he glances at Anita, offering a very brief smile.

"It has. I've been keeping to myself mostly. Cuts down on the torches and pitchforks," he teases quietly. "How are you and your people doing?"

Sounds good to me!

"And we all know those need to be spared," Anita replies, deadpan.

She might settle across from him, perching on an armrest.

"I've been fine. Nothing to report, really. People been treating you well?"

Boyle nods. "As well as expected and better ... than I anticipated." He watches her a moment before speaking again.

"I was considering drafting ... up a map of the grounds, but things change too often for it to be of use."

Carol shows up on time, in the library. She picked up something for Frank, because she feels he's such a good friend, and she supposes he doesn't get presents very often. The book is wrapped up in newspaper, there's a bow made of slight rope.

It's not much, but it's something.

She'll be happy to find him.

Boyle is waiting in their meeting spot for her to show, flipping through a thick book of war in the Roman era when Carol shows up.

He glances up, eyes flashing briefly in even the low light, but his voice is warm. "Good evening Carol," he says, pleased to see her, and sets his book aside.

"Good evening, Frank," she replies with similar warm.

As usual, she slides into the seat across from him.

Contrary to usual, she puts a package on the table between them.

"How have you been?"

Boyle glances at the package, but doesn't connect it as a gift to himself and ignores it for now. He nods.

"Not much difference, though I am taking ... your advice into account and attempting to be more ... sociable. How are you?"

Here's someone who hasn't been walking on screen for a while. Cyrano will come to the library, looking forward to seeing Boyle.

He's actively looking for the chak: the undead man has an ability no other can claim, since Cyrano talks to him... as an equal.

And he is in need of counsel.

Boyle can be found in a quiet, dim corner of the library, a number of large sheets of paper open in front of him where he appears to be sketching out a very, very rough blueprint of the Mansion. There are a few torn and crumpled up papers at his feet where frustration got the better of him and he would do well to see a calming presence at this time.

Cyrano is feeling much the same way about his own work, but perhaps they can be mutually beneficial. He pauses, leaning against the shelves, and says, "Inspiration is being harsh, hmmm?"

Looking up, Boyle manages a raspy chuckle and nods once.

"Something like that. I have the ... basics down, but the details ... elude me. I am glad to see you up."

This will probably seem somewhat familiar, because where Anita goes, Lukas is usually not far behind. And so once his Alpha takes his leave of Frank, Lukas will approach him again. This time it's less a protective measure and more to simply say hello. He trusts Anita's instincts, and she seems to feel safe enough in the man's company. Not that a reminder she has a protector would probably go without some advantage. Still, Lukas looks friendly, at least his posture if relaxed when he approaches. "Hello, again," he greets the man.

Boyle glances up and nods once in greeting. "Hello. You've just missed your lady friend," he offers, unsure if the young man was there to see him or was simply looking for Anita.

"I'll catch up," Lukas answers with a hesitant grin. He knows exactly where Anita is, almost every moment of every day. It's his job, and he loves it. "I thought I'd say hey. See how you're doing."
